I Ride:
Death To the Leftside kickstarter

With the introduction of the 2009 Husaberg the end of an era is near.
As a kid growing up in America in the 70's seeing the old timers kicking their left hand BSA's, OSSA's and others at poker runs and enduros I used to be in amazement on how they could do that only having been riding Jap bikes. As with most Americans I had to be pushed by friends to try the brands from Europe. With there help my eyes opened up to be a different rider and owner not to be just a motorcycling sheep anymore.
I'm glad that Husaberg took off in a new motor design to be different and open a new chapter on engine design, but one day the Left side kick starter will be as old fashion as the carburetor. One day I will be that old guy at the poker run and enduro that some kid will look at in amazement at the old iron that I'm riding.

and there is a guy who will never forget left hand kicks!!!!

Good point about nostalgia, soon there will be a generation who do not know what a kick start is, or was. The left hand kicker will be a reminder to those who remember where all good things came from.

I pulled off the kick starter on my 04 berg a long time ago, it just got in the way when I was looking for the choke button. I leave it for 1-2 months and hit the button and it starts first go every time , original battery still.
Some people had all sorts of issues trying to start a left hand kicker, I found with my old fe600 , if it was tuned nicely, you could pass the kick start through 3/4 of its movement and the last little bit at the end of its stroke was all that was required to start the bike with ease, with a quick poke of the leg and it would always start.Often seen people stand on it from right at the very top where it starts its movement.

Regards,
enginenumber..
