I would expect the Husaberg 650 to out run a 450, V twin or not.

In the last issue of the American magazine "Dirt Rider", the FE 550 Husaberg kept right up with the 550 Aprilia in all the acceleration and power tests they performed. I thought that was impressive.

I've ridden a couple of Aprilia 550's...can't say I was all that impressed.

The motor seemed like it had no flywheel on it, tons of power...but not very useable. The Berg's power is much more controlable and can be delivered to the ground.

I also think both bikes are at the opposite ends of the scale when it comes to simplicity/complexity.

The FS650 weighs 15-20 kgs less than the Aprilia 450. A stock Aprilia 450 makes about 55 hp at 11k rpm. Your 650 makes 57 hp stock at 7.5k rpm. The big difference is torque. The 450 Aprilia only makes 29 ft lbs at 9k rpm. Your 650 makes 41 ft lbs at 6k rpm.

More low end grunt and less weight equals more acceleration! Lose a few kgs and you would be even faster

At any rate the SV is one impressive bike. I heard so much about them. That I thought that a SV would give a FE or FS a run for its money.

I can honestly attest that I had my bone stock 07 650 @ deals gap with 21 miles on it and I came up on a guy that was riding a 550 ape with some friends ,I blew past about 4 of them & a miniute or so later I could hear the ape behind me , we swapped leads a few times with him in front @ the store . We got to talking & he was FLOOOOORED!!!! He had his bike set & was racing the ape it was piped mapped & geared . I will give him this the ape was faster but I was already so confident in the brakes that I could always catch him in the corners & sometimes pass him .

The best thing about it was when they were side by side the bergs quality put the aprilia to shame .

The fact that the Aprilia is heavier and his engine needs higher rpm than the one cylinder engines to accelerate the bike, make it difficult in driving specially in close tracks and I am talking about power and torque diagram. Its a beautyfull bike and very strong! When I was thinking to buy a semi race supermoto,Aprilia was the other option but finally my hurt wants Husaberg and I am happy about that. Some UHE member had posted in his gallery a test with Husaberg FS 650,KTM SMC 660 and Aprilia SXV 550.If you find it and check it you will find out that the Berg was faster from both when they tested from stop. The Aprilia was faster in repriz. As Supermotomike said "More low end grunt and less weight equals more acceleration".

Husaberg vs Aprilia

We had at My Adventure 14pc of Husaberg 450 and we run them for 2 years.
This season we got a good offer to use Aprilia, which we did.

Now after 1/2 season we are selling the Aprilia´s, when sold we will go for the Husaberg again. Aprilia is for enthusiasts and not for us who use them every day.

To compare:

Beauty- Aprilia
Power when rev- Aprilia.
Heavy- Aprilia.
Poor quality- Aprilia.

Light weight- Husaberg
easy maitenens- Husaberg.
interchangeble parts- Husaberg 2001-2008, even some older stuff fits.
Function- Husaberg.
Smoothness- Husaberg.
Enough power- Husaberg 650..
More than enough power- Husaberg Enginehardware 670cc.

I the world of scoring points, Husaberg wins on K/O.
