The problem is that vinyl graphic material and plastic gas tanks that leach fumes just don't work together too well. Most modern bikes have the graphics on the plastic shrouds covering the gas tank, which works good.

Anything stuck to the big plastic tank will deteriorate in short order. Get the clear one and show it off in all its glory I think it looks the best of all the available colors.

I talked to Powersportgrafx.com yesterday about doing a set for the big tank, but they need a template first. Cost would be $80 plus a template fee of $20. Meanwhile, I'm going to a local graphics designer next week to try to get a pattern. The trick is to use perforated vinyl that allows the tank to breath. Krylon fusion plastic paint may work as well and should let the fumes pass through. Should also be gasoline resistant when dry in case of spills.

The perforated graphics look ok for awhile, but still have a shorter life when they are stuck straight to a plastic tank.

The Fusion paint won't last at all on a Clarke tank.

You are right about the fusion paint. I did a test and it comes off with gasoline. Anyone know of a gasoline resistant paint?

I've had perforated graphics on a Clarke tank for my XR650R now for 7 years. There was a bit of detachment at the sharp curves, but the Husaberg graphics can be placed on a much flatter surface.

The tank has three sections on each side. The top near the fill spout (which I was going to paint, but will probably leave stock), the middle (which needs graphics) and the bottom which I've blacked out with vinyl to make it look sleeker. Horizontal lines on the graphics will also give this effect. I'm working on it.

I have designed new graphics for the big tank and found a thick vinyl material used successfully for plastic gas tanks. It is finished and looks good. Will try to post a picture.

I'm having difficulty posting a picture of the new graphics for the big tank, but can attach it to an e-mail. If interested, please e-mail me at misteradams@comcast.net and I'll send you a pic. I can probably get the supplier to grant a discount price if enough members are interested. It looks sleek on the bike with horizontal lines and a blacked out bottom. The guy spent a lot of time researching materials and I doubt if anything better exists.
