Dual-sport: 550 or 650?

Greetings again,
Which would you choose to dual-sport, a 550 or a 650? My theory on available power is that you can never have too much, but I temper this desire relative to longevity.

Also, should I consider a 2005 or 2006 model instead of an '07? While I'm usually interested in the latest-and-greatest, if there are no real changes in model years I'm happy to save money purchasing a leftover.

Thanks again for all your advice.

Not quite sure, but I don't believe there is much of a difference in longevity between the 550 and 650. You really should base your choice on the majority of your off road riding, woods/singletrack or open desert. the 650 is by most opinions a bit much in the tight stuff, still way easier than a honda xr650. see the link below

the 07 does have some updates that are considered important. again, see the link below

If you can why not by the 07? the flames will grow on you....

you quite possibly be able to pick up and 05-06 pretty cheap though, and they are still great bikes.

just remember that the bergs are not made for long hauls with no down time for maintenance, especially at highway speed for great distances. They are made to race and WIN!

P.S. Is there a different way to access the 1st link you provided? I can't seem to locate the information you mention.

Sorry about that, I fixed the thread link in the previous post. and just FYI, I understated how badly the xr650 gets it's rear kicked by the Husaberg if you are looking for speed and agility in a 650 machine.
