Re: 2005 FE650E

Bought mine May of last year, about 60 hours on it & I haven't had any overheating problems. I'm sure if I abused it at super slow speeds it would cause a problem, but so far it's been a great bike. Changed oil & checked valve adj. only so far.

An old fart like me would probably just slow you guys down. I'd be left out there for the critters to chomp on.

The replies you have received on overheating in the slow and tight stuff should be taken seriously. My 05 FE550E with 14/52 gearing, evans coolant and some computer fans is just starting to approach hassal free in the HVAC department. The '06 tank and fan will probably be the shortest path for a cool running engine. Best of luck with the new wheels.

Re: 2005 FE650E

05 FE 650e is an awesome bike...reliable...fan kit a great idea. As a Husaberg Dealer, our 650 demo keeps on going after all kinds of different skill levels have ridden it. KEEP IN MIND...Unless the bike is a registered Demo (meaning a bike that a dealer has purchased specifically for a demo purpose) a Used FE650e warranty will not be transferable (thats what we have been told by our rep). As an example, we have an 06 FE450e that is a demo bike that is now available for sale...it only has 9.2 hours on it, however, as a demo, the customer will get a better buy on a new bike that is just now broken in and will still get a 1 year warranty once they purchase the bike). 450 for the woods, 650 for the desert and the 550 if you do both...you cant go wrong though with either size no matter where your riding.

<< I have a chance at a very clean FE650E with very little use...still with warranty on it. I would like to replace my current WR400 and dualsported XR650r with it. Use will be everything from tight eastern type woods to fast open forest and cottage roads. I'm a large experienced rider and not looking to be talked into a 450, etc., which I agree might be better for many riders.

I very high performance bike I know, but I'm still nervous about durability and reliability. I don't mind a little more maintenance but I don't want it breaking despite that. Are there still any known failures, quirks or other items I should be looking at with this 2005 machine? Is the (lower revving?) 650 a little more durable then the 450/550's or same difference? Sorry it this has been asked before but I would appreciate any feedback or experience here.>>

Iíve owned my 2005 since new and you would have a hard time finding a better bike. Iím 315lbs at times 325lbs and this bike stock has suspension enough for relatively aggressive desert riding as well as tight trails. Power is amazing it snaps on as fast as you can twist the throttle. I find this bike more nimble than most bikes half its size. It donít like idling so much and it tends to overheat if youíre doing big group rides where youíre sitting waiting for people to catch up. When thatís the case I always shut it off to avoid overheating. I did add a bigger rear spring after 8 years running the stock set up. Tires are the hugest expense as you can expect to need a tire after every 4 tanks of fuel. I replace the battery each season. Hope you got the bike and are enjoying it.
Thanks from Rainerio
