Which sized piston for FE390?

Bike has approx 200+ hours and I'm going to check and possible replace piston this winter.

Can someone give me the procedure on how to determine if I need the 94.94mm or 94.95mm or 94.96mm piston?

you're meant to have the bore measured. they would measure some virgin metal and the main thrust faces.

but it really isn't necassary, A is what you start with on a fresh bore so you will only ever want B or C. They were designed so that even a muppet could put a C in a new liner and with a little luck they wouldn't seize. so you will never be far out with a B or a C.

I'd go straight to the C and run it in for a few hours.

Awesome. Thanks for that inside information. How often does the cam chain need to be replaced?

it doesn't - that's how rare. just go by whether you have clickers left but you'll be amazed.

the least friction is an old-style roller chain like on the 1989-2008 Husabergs but they are weaker.

the most friction and wear is on your type chain but they have double the loading.

on paper, you can't write down 'wear' or 'least friction' but you can write down the 'pulling strain'

AND THAT MY FRIEND IS HOW THE WORLD ENDS UP COMPLETELY PHUQED UP AND "WORSE" IS BETTER!

bet you didn't know that!

Good lesson.
And that is also how we can end up with a supposed anti-Fascists group that is actually fascists-ANTIFA.

the question also arises; how strong do you want a cam chain to be?

keep turning the engine over while smashing valves, pistons and conrods or...............

snap early?

....and I get you

Hey what's the worst than can happen if I install the 94.96mm on my old girl, instead of the OEM sized-94.94mm?

And here in the US it seems Pro-X are the only pistons that are easily had. Is it worth it to order a Wossler from overseas?

wossner is a better piston. but the factory piston is only another 12gbp/$15 so I'd take the factory piston, the oil remains really clean!

I have them both in my shop at 101533 and 101534.

cheers

Who makes the factory piston, what mfg/brand?

And what do you mean by..."another 12gbp/$15"?

wossner is better than Prox. but the factory piston is only £12/$15 more expensive than a Wossner.
