I Ride: 2010 FX 450
Exclamation Please help identifying my new bike.

Hey everyone. Been going over the new to me bike and I'm trying to correctly identify it. I believe the owner stated it was an FX 450 but it has the headlight and tail light which comes on the FE (from what I understand). of course that couldve been added after the fact. Vin lookups only tell me the year and 4 stroke, no information on trim or engine size.

How can i properly identify the bike? I know the frame is 2010 from the 10th A in Vin. I know the engine is 2010 from the first 0. Does 812 mean 390cc or 450cc?

How can I tell I wasnt sold a 390 instead of a 450? is opening the engine required to tell? this is now the worry.

Vin: " VBKHAM434AMxxxxxx "
Engine number: " 0-812*04812* "

the bikes were designated
FE390e
FX450e
FE570e and FS570e

so that sounds about right.

an FX could have a street plate and came with leccy boot but no lights etc but the idea is that they would be very easy to put on.

thanks for the response. all the info I have found suggests that 2010 model year has its own FE 450 model. I have seen the e at the end but at least not for 2009-2012. Could it be eu vs us or au etc?

Also what is leccy boot? is that short for lectron or something? I am pretty sure the bike is fuel injected. Or am I confused?

Has anyone seen a Husa engine number like that before? It uses a dash (-) and asterisks (*) in it. Im asking because I cant find any engine number information and what I have found from others is their engine number doesnt have special characters. It is also not stamped straight or centered. Im assuming the factory would have done a more precise job?

so now im wondering if someone machined the engine number off and re stamped it.

seeing as vin and engine numbers for husa seem to be hit or miss information right now. is there a sure fire way to validate engine? Maybe remove head to see piston? but was told 390 is same bore but different stroke? so maybe not?

My 2010 fe450 engine number starts 0 8120
Vin. starts VBKHAA

Think FX had 19 inch rear wheel and closed cartridge forks and gearbox ratio different to FE

I know these things won’t confirm engine ID but it might be a positive for you....I look at my engine number on bike tomorrow, see how it’s stamped etc......

okay thanks. thats a little reassuring. I guess my problem is most of my friends have mx bikes like 2016 ish and the power of those bikes is insane. so sometimes going back to my bike and feeling a tamer and different power delivery makes me wonder sometimes if its a 450. But I still love and ride her everyday.
