I am trying to get my 2002 FE650e registered in California. Does anyone now if a 2002 has a sticker like the ones shown previously in this thread and if so where it might be? I pulled the tank and cannot find it anywhere.

by their nature, stickers fall off. you could also have had a VIN plate but again, they come unstuck.

Even though my bike is street legal in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida it does not appear that California will give me a license plate unless I have a federal emissions sticker. I have the local KTM dealer checking to see if I can get one from the factory. Anyone have an idea where I can a stocked for a 2002 FE650e?

my '04 450 had an out of state title that i needed to register in az several years ago and that sticker was illegible due to power washing. all az wanted was for the bike to go thru a more stringent inspection (read: additional $20), and all was well.

I don't know if this helps but I traded a Moto Guzzi to a good friend who lives in Ca for his 570 a couple years back. Part of the deal was that I meet him In Ca at the DMV where it needed to get a plate or no deal. Smart on his part.

The Guzzi was a "49 state" vehicle out of Vegas and it didn't have an emission sticker at all. They were VERY uncooperative when I explained the original sticker was apparently under the seat, which the PO had swapped out.

It almost didn't happen, but I found a clause in one of their forms that said an out of state motorcycle (maybe any vehicle) over 10 years old didn't need the sticker. Eventually they begrudgingly blessed the sale and gave him a plate.
