I Ride:
2001 FE501E Value

A local dealer has had a 01 FE501E for sale for quite a while, probably 2 years now. They were asking $4800, now down to $3800. I looked at it a couple of days ago and its a little rough but not too bad, other than a ripped seat cover and a blown head gasket. I'd like to get it but certainly not for anything even close to $3800 with the head gasket. Any opinions on a fair price for it? I bought a 98 FE400E from them last month, good for the woods but not quite enough power for street use. I'll keep the 400 for woods and trails and would like the 501 for street use. Should i even bother with the 501, but instead look for a 600 for street use?

Thanks

Roger

I don't think I would bother with that one anyways. Your dealer obviously thinks he has something special there. It's not worth insulting him, or have him perceive insult. There are lots of good bikes out there in the 2500-3500 range if you shop around.
