2010 FE570 leaking seal......

Looks like I have a slight oil leak from the countershaft (output shaft). Behind the sprocket there's a spacer, O ring and a seal. Anyone know if the seal be changed with the engine in situ without splitting the cases? The OEM service manual isn't very specific. Cheers!

I have had this issue in the past with my old KTM 625 SMC. I solved it by removing the sprocket, replacing the O ring, and packing around the o ring with some heavy duty Bel ray grease, similar to that which you would use on an outboard motor. Never lost a drop (from this spot) after doing that.

Likely some other people on here with suggestions for Husaberg's in particular.

I don't think that seal puller will work with the countershaft still in?

And yes if you manage to get the seal out you can change it in situ.

Thanks for the replies guys.
From what I can make of the parts diagram the spacer fits over the countershaft and inside the seal so removing the spacer should give some clearance to get some sort of removal tool in there. Might have to make something up to fit. I'm just hoping I don't find play in the bearing 'cos that will be an engine out and strip job.

Yes once the ring ( part number: 26) is removed there is enough space for the seals puller

I have already done this way

Super easy you don't need and special tool screwdriver will work. After it's done you're going to say what was I worried about. The hardest thing will be undoing the counter shaft nut.
Thanks from pegscraper and Alan
