Wheel bearing question

I replaced the wheel bearings in them and reused the seals as I did not buy new ones.

Now when reassembling the front wheel I can see the bearing is not seated against the fork "dropouts"

Is it normal to be able to see some of the black axle on the non-disc side of the front wheel?

it is on the 1989-2002 models yes. this model had an analogue speedo with the old fashioned speedo cable drive. you can see the spindle pressing up against this, if I recall about 4mm of it is showing.

there are replacement shoulders available for when the old speedo drive has finally had it. i got one for myself back in the day (about 2005 I guess) but I've never seen them for sale since.

regards

nothing wrong with that! just remember the procedure for tightening the pinch screws to the spindle.

tighten the spindle nut
tighten the pinch screws of the left leg only
bounce bike up and down and run ito a wall wjhile applying the brake
pinch the screws of the right leg

remember to wear a crash helmet for number 3 LOL!!!!
