Hello.

About 3 years since I started this topic. I still have the Husaberg FE 350. Turned out to be the 1991 model and not the -97 as I thought earlier (see first post in this topic). Resently I found a "brand new" (old but unused) gastank, the original one was totally useless after being exposed of daylight for many years. The gas tank is slightly darker blue compared to the other plastic on the bike but make it ready to use again, fore it first time in 27 years. Adding some pictures of the re assembly of the old lady. I also putted on new tires, she was worth it.

Gas Tank

Martcarl, the previous gas tank was the original neutral color of that period. Now you have a blue tank which is darker than other plastic parts. You can restore the old gas tank.

Restoring was not an option...

The original gas tank has totally lost its flexibility and was cracking into two pieces when it should be mounted back on the frame. If you watch closely you see the "relining epoxy" (grey layer) I tried to renovate all the small cracks with. Worked until I was forced to remove the tank. The new tank should maby get som paint on it to match the other plastic parts.

Martcarl, now I understand and this option is right also for safety. You can still search for a good used gas tank on the web, I am sure you will find it.

I would not bother trying to paint the tank as fuel vapor permeation will lift the paint in no time. You can sand out most (or some) of the scratches and polish the tank. There are many videos on YouTube how to do this.

Question: Is the ignition cover metal or plastic?

Plastic! If you mean the spark plug connector?

It's Aluminum, from '92 they start to use plastic.
