Tough old winning Bergs

Hello Ren. 1990 is sure getting to the early days of Husabergs. Was working on an 1986 WR430 Husky. A few parts look just like yours. Does anyone have a Husaberg from the late 1980s? I can imagine the ex-Husqvarna engineers, in a cold barn in Sweden, trying to start up another bike company. Not an easy task. Any 1988 or earlier bikes must be more like prototypes. Still can`t fathom the skill, guts and sheer will power of all involved to pull off those world championships. Those bikes they used must have been the entire inventory! Wow Vikings indeed!

1995?

Hello Marc. That bike isn`t a real early one. It does have the much smaller diagonal frame braces used from the beginning tho, and the yellow colour they used. That might be an ex- semi factory competition frame. Tho it seems like they only made one frame model for everything. The USD forks / triple clamps were OE long before `95. I saw some from years before yours with huge conventional forks, looking much more like 1982 Husky products. Better service everything before running it. Use 5-50 real motorcycle oil, or 15-50 if you got a Kawasaki shop close by. Change it after every 2 tanks of gas. Yes sounds nuts, it takes less than a litre. K&N Filters makes oil filters for you, Husky shops have those. Grease every pivot on the bike. Wire brush every thread you touch. Fuss over every bit of wiring, bet you find broken plug-ins. Send suspension to a specialist, you gotta look after Ohlins stuff. The rest is about what you are used to. Expect a Husaberg to last for decades, with very fussy care. Better also expect it to want a lot more care. Good luck, L

which years had a yellow frame? anybody know? i'm thinking that 1996 was the last year but which was the first?

also, decals with lilac/mouve in them? which year was this?

thanks awfully!

the decals are now just about ready but the above would help. I'm looking for any sales literature in colour for any o0f the 1989-1996 bikes please?

i have the literature for:
1997
1998
1999
2000
2001
2002

regards

Husaberg 1997 fe 400

Hello.

I just bought myself a fe 400 from 1997.
The guy who had it had lost the manuals and it is in need of some serious service.

Have tried to find manuals online, and i've found one that depicts the oilchange procedure, but i cant find what oilfilters to use.
I have also tried to call the main vendor for husaberg in sweden, but they where of no help because my bike was to old.

Anyone here that knows what type of filter that fits in this engine?

I also wonder what oil to use in the gearbox.

Thankful for answers!

/Regards Alexander
