But the spark is good so would it realy make that much of a difference being a little bit under ? I had it started for about ten seconds it was just spluttering all over the place is that what it would do if it was lower then 1750?

A rebuilt stator is a small price to pay for the fun and reliability. Trust him. You don't want a half assed stator cause it will leave you stranded!

Re: 1995 husaberg fc 600 starting problem ?

if you remove the plug cap from the wire it should jump a 10mm gap to ground when cranking .....................or..............you can get a HEI spark plug tester like the one below:

when using this kind of tester if you leave the plug cap on you need to take a paper clip and straighten it out and put it in the holein the porcelain end of the tester, it should jump a gap the distance of the paperclip to the side of the tester..............it wont jump the gap by itself even if all is good.........

if it just jumps the plug gap, that doesnt mean that the plug is good till you make it jump a serious gap like the tester makes it do or the 10mm gap................

Re: 1995 husaberg fc 600 starting problem ?

a typical stator on the blink will make you think that it is running on too much choke. it'll cough and splutter, it won't rev cleanly and then it will stall.

the thing is, you had a bike running fine so it isn't the carb. that leaves a mechanical failure or an electrical one?

the tappets can be so bad that in the end it seems instant when they refuse to run anymore.

after that you have the electrics. the ignition modules (coils) either do or don't work full stop. after that we have poor electrical connections and in some ways there is an element of 'lack of good grounding/earth' in what you describe but at the end of the day it just screams "stator".

regards

Yes taffy It seems its definately the stator after trying to get a spark today with the cap off it wouldn't even jump 1 mm never mind 10mm also red to black reads 1125 and to green it was 24 so I have come to the conclusion it has to be the stator as the tappets seem in good condition and as the bike has had under 100 hours from new (as I'm told ) and I'm only the 3rd owner and all the bike seems to be in very good condition so hopefully once I get the stator rewound the bike should be running spot on fingers crossed!!

Thanks for all the info guys its much appreciated.
