2011 FS570 Stalling

Hey everyone, picked up a used 2011 FS570 with 385 miles on it. Yesterday it stalled after a short 80mph+ blast down the highway and stranded me in traffic! It was hot outside. I sat for about 30 minutes at which point it fired back up. Manufacture date on the frame is 09/10. I've read several posts about possible causes but I wanted to start this thread to document my troubleshooting and experience with the issue. I recently de-smogged it. Here's my plan:

1) Heat wrap the exhaust near the tank and apply heat shield to the underside of the tank itself.
2) Replace fuel pump? Is there an easy way to tell if mine is one of the bad ones? Or just replace and move on?
3) Replace exhaust can. FMF 4.1? Don't want something loud but it sounds like the stock can contributes to overheating the fuel.
4) ???

I'll report back as I make progress. Suggestions and advice are welcomed as it's no fun to ride wondering when you'll be stranded!

A procedure for testing fuel pumps here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17381&p=141771&hilit=Wd40#p141 771

Good luck, let us know the results

Its always the fuel pump on these bikes. One thing ive noticed is the bike will run lean if you dont let it warm up for 3 or 4 minutes without touching the throttle.Lean=Hot.Unless its my imagination, anyone agree?

I forgot to add one other point about the fuel quantity.Less than half a gallon of gas will get hot and seize the pump easily .my 2 Skred

Re: 2011 FS570 Stalling

SLOBRA, I have a 2011 FE570S and have the same problem. To date I have wrapped the exhaust mid-pipe, put reflective material on the underside of the tank, and replaced the factory exhaust can with an FMF unit. It still stalls after 20 to 30 minutes of easy riding in moderate ambient temperatures. I am convinced that the problem is the fuel pump, and have a CA Cycleworks replacement on order.

Wow, thanks for the info. Maybe I'll just start with the pump. Could you post a link to the pump you ordered? Many thanks!

Here's a link to the CA Cycleworks fuel pump at KTM-parts.com:

It's on backorder with an ETA of 30 June.

Re: 2011 FS570 Stalling

If you can have a look at your current fuel pump to see what colour the top is. Mine was black and was faulty. The new replacement from Husaberg is brown and seems to be good so far. I believe the black ones are known to be faulty and mine was replaced under warranty because I flagged the problem early in the bikes life. If yours is out of the warranty period then you will probably be better off getting an aftermarket pump because ive been told the berg units are quite expensive to buy!
