I just bought my first Berg 2011 FE390 I have questions

This. Is my first post and just wanted to say hi, and thanks to everyone for all the good reading material.
For a new person to Husaberg's does anyone have any tips or cool products for my Bike?
Does the bike have any weird service periods?
Is there things to look out for?
I have heard and read some stuff on the bike boiling the gas or something like that.
Any help would be much appriciated

Re: I just bought my first Berg 2011 FE390 I have questions

Welcome and good choice!

My 390 hasn't suffered from any problems on fuel although i believe some issues occur in USA due to fuel mix compared to Europe. Have a search on site for info.

Mine does get hot quick of not moving do i only run the engine of moving our about to move - no long warm up before seeing off.

I change oil every 10 hours of trail riding and oil filter every third oil change which i think is sensible. Also change air filter regularly. Rad guards and sump guard are good extras.

Welcome

The 390's a great bike!
A few things I do/found helpful (average rider/no expert):

Oil change every 10hrs, filter every 2nd change. Lots of debate here about oil type so look up some old threads to help with your decision. But I use a reputable brand, fully synthetic, motorbike specific oil.
Use your manual to find both the gauze prefilters and clean them every change.

Airfilter at least every 5hrs/2nd ride or when looking a bit dirty (get 2 filters so one is on and the other is cleaned ready to oil and go).

A battery minder/charger/maintainer. (no kick start backup so look after your battery)

A fuel tank "sock" or neck filter (keeps the crap out of your fuel filter, injector etc) there has been quite a few stories of fuel filter problems (nearly all in the USA tho ?).

Check your waterpump seal, it may be installed backwards (search on here for "weephole")

Handgaurds and radiators, yes !

I also change out all the fluids on any used bike ie: radiator, brake ( I upgraded to dot 5.1), and clutch.
This will give you a starting point from when you know everything was fresh.

There is lots of mods, upgrades and bling out there, have a search around. The world is your oyster !

This is a great site with alot of info. It does take a bit of wading through the searches to find what your looking for, but that is testament to the level of info.

Enjoy

Re: I just bought my first Berg 2011 FE390 I have questions

I not sure if your FE390 has the same muffler as came on my 2011 FE570 - if it does I would immediately remove the "restrictor" portion in the end cap of the muffler. The restrictor portion in mine was about the outside diameter of a penny -severely plugging up the muffler, hurting performance, and making the bike run much hotter than it should run. I cut out the restrictor portion with a hack saw and noticed a large increase in performance across the rpm range, much cooler running, and not much of a noise increase.

I would recommend the 70 degree racing map switch. I like the "L" setting" for trail riding as it has just a little bit more of a blast off the bottom and slightly muted mid and top end which work well for serious trail riding. The switch gtives you three personalities (you can tell they are brothers though).

I purchased my bike in late 2011. When I purchased it they installed an updated fuel filter. I also installed a fuel sock in the inlet of the gas tank. No issues of any kind.

Hope that helps.

Enjoy your new bike!

I'm in Canada and ordered the fuel sock from Australia. It was cheap and fast. Profill.

Hey Mike
Keep the bikes revs in the upper half of the rev range when riding, don't be shy to keep it on the boil, when you need to blip it over something or steer it with the back wheel through corners the power is there, there is little engine braking from the 390 motor so this will not affect you much when approaching the twisties/rock sections, the harder the closed cartridge suspension works the more responsive/better it works I find, so hit a section that you know at a slightly more aggressive pace than you would and whats that WP work its magic, its astonishing.
You gonna friggen love this bike.
