I honestly do not think you could physically fit a Yamaha XT motor in a Husaberg frame and, if you did manage it, there is the problem of the output shaft being on the opposite side of the Husaberg motor and you wuld need to reverse the rear wheel and swap sides with the rear brake which would require some welding, grinding, and possibly machining work. Next problem would be how to hook up your air intake. BTW, aren't the Yamaha motors dry-sump? If so, what would you do for the oil resevoir?

odysseas,
definitely an odd direction to go, but whatever floats your boat...

You could save yourself a lot of difficulty by choosing an engine with the output on the right. A lot of Rotax stuff, including the BMW Funduro 650 and Aprilia Pegaso 650 would be your way forward here... BUT these engines are MUCH bigger and heavier than the Husaberg. Not to mention basic practicalities like trying to fit twin carbs where there was only intended to be one. Even the throttle bodies on the injected versions are huge.

Pretty much everything is possible if you have the time, money, skills and patience (or just a sh*t-load of money), but I've got to ask: WHY WOULD YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT DOING THIS??? If the answer is "because I can", go for it! If it's anything different, I humbly suggest it may be better to look for a replacement engine.

Cheers... Paul

Re: feeting yamaha xt engine on husaberg 2007 model

I have been told of a bloke who fitted a Honda XR600 motor into an early model Husaberg. They run a wet sump so would be easier than the XT motor as you would also have to fit an oil tank. But there is room under the seat for that if you manage to get the orifinal air intake to mate up.

If it was me and I wanted to replace the Husaberg motor because the cost of a rebuild may be more than the bike is worth, I would probably look at something water cooled and whatever was cheap. Not too many good running motors leave their frames. A KTM motor would be my choice, but then it would be easier to leave it in the KTM.

An air cooled 605 Rotax motor has a right side chain drive but not a cheap or easy motor to find. Most others you will have to flip the wheel and weld some tabs on the swingarm, unless a KTM swingarm will fit.

Re: fitting yamaha xt engine into husaberg 2007 model

Guys i really appreciate your help and your advises. The parts are very expensive and i don't have that extra money to fix her every while. I love my berg but i would sacrifice some of her power to put an engine which is far more reliable. I have seen a video on youtube where they fit a Yamaha XTX 660 engine on a berg. Maybe it's a good idea to have an alternative in mind when my berg needs again some 1500euros for the parts only from the KTM dealer.

Sorry it's an XT600 engine. Here is the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1p6jXv64q8
