Part out or sell?

Not sure what to do with my 2006 FS650... I don't ride it at all anymore, in fact it's been over a year since I've ridden the bike. It's a street legal "e" model but I've made it a "c" but still have all the original street parts. I'm thinking it's worth more and easier to sell parted out but just don't know what kind of interest I'll get. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

BTW, it has about 25 hours on it, good shape...been crashed in the dirt a couple times.

Re: Part out or sell?

I hate to see them parted. You almost owe it to yourself and the bike from a karma stand point to try and sell it outright. The 650's do show some interest.
You could try and part it, but that will take some effort and time. Also marketing, packing and shipping the parts is a pain. Once you get past the wheels and suspension the parts sales will slow down dramatically. Everyone wants the engine, but few will want to pay the asking price you will need.

Throw it in the classifieds for a month and see what happens.

Just my 2 cents.

Re: Part out or sell?

I'm having a Hell of time selling a near perfect 2004 FE650. Maybe I'm asking too much for it, but I haven't even got one inquiry for it, nor one offer. I would not have the patients to part it out though, as that would be a real pain in the ass. I'm almost to the point where I would just trade it in on my next bike, and get raped by the dealer.

Well I went to the Dealer, not only did he want to rape me, he wanted me to kiss him. If anyone wants a excellent 2004 Husaberg FE 650 make me an offer I can't refuse.

Hi Mike,
It seems like you have your 2004 FE 650 at a good asking price of $3,200.
It's a good year, an its a low hour 650.

I think your price is fair and I wouldent part the bike out. Although I would love to take it off your hands because I want to put a 650 motor in my street legal FE 501 I just think a complete bike is more of a selling point because you can look at the whole thing and judge how well it was taken care of. But on the other hand you cant look inside the motor to see any problems. I can sense your dilemma and I feel for ya I have a 2002 KTM 520 SX that I was thinking of doing the same thing to but I felt it wasent worth the hassle, so needless to say I still have the bike. And if anyone out there wants to trade a 650 for a sweet 2002 520 SX let me know.....yeah I know fat chance

Re: Part out or sell?

Hey ajw,
The original post was for a 2006 FS 650 and he didn't put a price on the bike but was asking a question.
The 2004 is being sold for $3,200 which is a very good price. It looks to be in excellent condition.
As a guide line to value, although there are other factors like low hours, condition and whether or not is
has a license plate, Kelly Blue Book puts the 2006 FS650 at $4,065,.. 2005 FE 650 at $3,650 and the
2004 FE 650 at $3,390. With a plate and the demand for a street legal bike, the price goes up I believe.
In comparison your 2002 KTM 520 sx is valued at $2,205.

Re: Part out or sell?

Hey thanks for the info Paul. I know that my KTM is not worth that much I am just having a hard time getting rid of it. I never ride it because I ride my street legal 01 FE501 that suits all my needs. The ideal scnario would be to aquire another bike that I could use as parts and extras for my street legal bike. You can never have to many spares right?
