What to know about '09 FE570

Hey guys,

I'm hoping to pick up a 2009 FE570. The only other berg I've owned was an old '97 FE400.

I've read as much as I can find online but what do I need to know about these:

1. Do they come street legal?
2. Do they come with speedo's/hour meters?
3. What are some red-alert items to look for? (read the one on the owners docs.... just didn't say much about '09+)
4. Anything specific to look for with this one?
5. Whats aftermarket like for them (I assume they're KTM parts mostly)
6. They are fuel injected right?

Anything and everything you can think of would be helpful. Also... WHAT IS A GOOD PRICE FOR ONE?

1 No not for 09 in the US
2 Yes they have the standard KTM trip od speedo (2010 does and so does 2011 pretty sure the 09 as well)
3 Heat prevention is a must free flowing exhaust heat blankets on the tank in line filters for the injector and some bikes have been built with junk fuel pumps
4 Maitinence records or log? how many hours higher hours lower price what fuel mapp is in the bike?
5 Aftermarket is better then the old bergs by far alot of ktm stuff is the same ( exhaust cans sprockets brakes) but still have to order some things
6 yes

for an 09 in the us could be anywhere from 4000-6000 for the higher end though on an 09 it better be dam clean and low hours with extras 5000 should be normal price area from what Ive seen

I have an '09, and I have to say, I'm glad I got it instead of a '10 or '11. I was able to plate it in Oregon. (i think because it already had a Tenn. plate?) It didn't come with that annoying SMOG stuff. And, if you look at the "Fuel pump failures poll" thread on KTM talk (http://ktmtalk.com/index.php?showtopic=423944 ), you'll find that very, very few of them have been '09's. I think it's like 5 or 6 out of 82 reported fuel pump issues were '09's.

I paid 7K for mine 6 months ago with 60 hours on it. However, that included a current Tenn. title, Head light and tail light, a new fan kit, new subframe tank, bark busters, Scotts steering dampener, vent hose re-route (all installed for me), and a great maintenance record. That price also included shipping to my door from across the country.

Find! Purchase! and Enjoy!!!

I will add, that some states will allow you to "make " them street legal. Check with your states DMV.

+1 on this. I currently live in CA and I plated my 'Berg in Nevada. It wasn't as bad of a process as I expected, you just need to know someone in NV as that'll be where the bike officially "lives". Also, I believe most New England states are relatively lax on converting the 2009-2010s.

I paid $6300 on mine and it had 700 miles and 41 hours; came with FMF Q4 Muffler, TrailTech X2 HID headlight, taller seat, and some oil and filters. So far, I'm into it for about $8k after getting it dual-sported.
