Need some help getting a carb to a machinist/shop

Hey there everyone,

A few weeks ago, we spoke of my carb and in the end it was pointed out that mine needed to be set up following this awesome thread by JoeUSA.

Saturday, I picked up my box of carb parts from the third and only remaining shop around me without the necessary changes being made to the carb. It seems I can't find anyone locally to drill the jets and machine the slide(the last shop told me that if it had needed to been done, the manufacturer would have done it).

If anyone has a shop nearby that can machine the slide and drill the jets, I would be very happy to send it your way. If they would be willing to reassemble the carb according to Joe's specific instructions, I would be so happy, I could crap jelly beans.

I will of course pay for shipping both ways, your time invested in handling the deal and the bill at the shop. Paypal, check or cash is all ok, or if you're the shop yourself, CC/debit.

If anyone can help out in this regard, just let me know.

Thanks very much for your time,

I'm beginning to think putting an 08 cam in the beast would be a much easier feat. You could keep your carb as the manufacture intended and run an OEM can, which would make everyone around you much happier. Perhaps even make it a hair more ridable.

You know I have all the answers

I believe that Joe's description of the Dellorto mods are the same ones that Dale used to routinely perform on all of the Husaberg Dellorto's. I see that Dale's site is down right now but he still posts profusely at flattrack.com where his email address could be had.

I agree with Ken that changing the cam to an 08 may be a better way to go.

It really is easy to do. I did one this morning. slide took 5 minutes with a half moon file. you need a half moon file, a ruler and a vernier gauge if you do it like me. a little wet 'n dry to finish.

whatever, I understand your worries. I feel the same at the computer when you start talking that jargon as well!

Hey there guys,

Before I create the classified ad:

When you say 08, are you speaking of a model of cam, or the model-year of the Berg that it was originally intended for?

Thanks very much for your time!

Yes emphatically yes...... well maybe kinda sorta ya know......

I thnk the 2008 cam is the same as the 2004 and up. Check the pat numbers. I think that I did check the part numbers and they were the same. There is a thread buried somewhere......

The beauty of the whole thing is that you can use the 2004 and up decomp without modification.

Check with Taffy et al before you pull the trigger on my say as lately I have been shuffling through the Texas sand, but my head's in Mississippi..........

I believe the 08 cam is stamped "08" on the end of it. Not so much a year indicator. I'm sure taffy will straighten us out on this.

Re: Need some help getting a carb to a machinist/shop

...I was going to say: when do I get the credit for only mentioning it last week?

the 08 cam is a profile and not a year Json and it was put in the 2003 last of the line 650s and then when the then new model started in 2004 it was put in all of them including the 450 (yep just 20cc away "two reef knots, two grannies and we were bound together for life....). it has poor cranking compression which is great! 08 is stamped on the end as ken says.

make sure you get the 2004 auto decomp for $30 and I'll let you know how to modify the spring.

regards
