I sure will, I'm like a kid at Christmas, always cool to get a new bike, seems like every 4 or 5 yrs for me (on the dirt bikes)
I'm also excited to be getting my first Husaberg, I've know of them forever, just don't seem them around here.. My first 4 stroke was a 1978 TT 500 Yamaha, then a TT600 (85 or 86 maybe..) Then a 1998 YZ400, next was an 01YZ426, next a 06 KX450 now the 2010 FX450 with a few 2 strokes in between as far as dirt goes...

Re: MX a FX450 for an old vet rider?

Thought I better update for those interested...
Made the 9 hr round trip Saturday, I'm always up for a road trip : )
Finally got to see the FX450 up close, wow, what a beautiful machine!!
Dwight and the guys at 417 Power sports in Springfield Mo are Just Great!!
We went down for the Berg and also brought back a 04 CRF150F for my girl friend...lol, she's got an xr100 but we'd already been talking about a 150, fits her better and she loves it. Back the the FX450, got'r home and took the first 15min break in ride, 1/4 throttle and all, still need to do a couple more and then an oil change. Hoping to get that done this week... I jammed up my back pretty good while practicing in Oklahoma the weekend before going to get my new bike. I'm still pretty sore so my Brand new FX450 is just sitting waiting for me to ride it.... it's killing me...Ugh!!! It may be a few weeks (I hope that's all) before I can really get a good impression of the bike... Sorry no Action pics yet, Just one of the FX in my truck on the way home.. I'll post again as soon as I really get to ride it
Thanks again for the opinions, help and suggestions

Re: MX a FX450 for an old vet rider?

Well, maybe I should have stayed off the MX track, or at least not try to be a young daredevil, especially considering my previous back surgery. got the call from the Dr's office this morning as I'd had x rays done last Thurs after my "incident" on my other bike the weekend before. I have a L-2 compression fracture and some movement around the other vertebrates that were fused with rods in 08. They are going to do Kyphoplasty to try and repair it. I don't see the surgeon until next Thurs. I probably should have given it up and maybe should. But as soon as I felt good enough to ride, I did, and may again, can't help it. I love off road riding and racing.... For now my new bike will sit until I see what the outcome of this is. My MX days may be over, but I my have the perfect bike to just go have fun on. If I can ride, I will, even if it's just play riding, I hope I can.
I'll resurrect this thread when I have a chance to Ride the beautiful FX450
Thanks again for your input

Getting my bike personalized, did 3, 15 min break in rides today around the neighborhood dirt roads, 15 more min an oil/filter change,go over the whole bike and it'll be ready to rip, I'm not..but it will be. Can wait to hear it with the FMF Slip On and the map switch clicked up one notch..

Re: MX a FX450 for an old vet rider?

I have the fmf on my FX, it sounds awesome while not being too loud. 3 things I did to my Berg that made a great difference were 1) remove the plastic pea in the gas cap and drill the hole larger to help with venting
2) removed the head and mid pipe and had them ceramic coated ( a thermal barrier coating called ceramakrome) for $85.00, reduced pipe temps from 1000 degrees to around 500.
3) P3 pipe guard in carbon fiber, it covers more pipe than the HB part and I know you need to cover it as I melted some new moose pants against the pipe before ordering a guard.
Other things I did which are more related to the riding I do (hare scrambles) were a Scotts damper,EE sharkfin,Guts soft seat foam,an 8.0 wp spring,Flex bars, speed bleeders,a HB map switch set on agressive, a 53t renthal sprocket, barkbusters and a brake snake.

Re: MX a FX450 for an old vet rider?

Good news, I saw a real back surgeon, The compression fracture was one of the old injuries, so no knew injuries, just jammed it pretty good.
We had a local Hare Scramble this past weekend and I had already done the 1 hr service/break in before going to the track.
I wasn't up for the race but I was a roaming track official. I was able to ride the track off and on. I had also installed the FMF silencer, I sure like the sound!!
There were a few table tops in the loop, the FX450 felt good in the air, turned nicely in the tight stuff, felt controllable and put the power to the ground.
I still have the suspension set up for me to do. I added 15mm risers but I'm going to put CR highs on also. I'm really looking forward to more testing.
I think this bike and I are gonna get along just fine
Thanks again for the help and input, I've still got to make some other fine tuning on the advise I've heard here on UHB
Oh yeah, after riding through some of the tighter sections, the little voices in my head keep say'n Rekluse, Rekluse...

I absolutly love my Rekluse Pro in my FX450. But I think I'm going to try out the new Core EXP.

Man,
Sorry to hear about your back.

I heard from a friend today that the Revloc guys have the LHRB kit out with the Magura lever.
My friend also has his master cylinder and lock out on the handlebar as well. Someone said it couldn't be done...

Re: MX a FX450 for an old vet rider?

Thanks guys, I'm not sure about the hand brake as we don't have a lot of tight stuff around here and I think I'd like to be able to over ride the auto clutch if needed as well as a little harder hit with the type of riding I do around here.
I'm just in the thought stage of an auto clutch right now, but you know what that leads to...
Here is a good test article on the EXP
http://www.motocrossactionmag.com/Main/ ... -5185.aspx
Both the the Rekluse Core EXP
http://www.rekluse.com/core_exp.shtml
or the the Revloc MXP look good
http://www.revloc.com/index.cfm/id/13/MXP-Clutch/
I'll do a search and see if I can find a straight up comparison between the two..

Taffy, you got any input ?, I missed the Indy 500 this year,it was one channel down.. but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night
