10 570 Slow to start first time of the day..SOLVED

I finally stepped up and picked up a '10 570 from Mark at SOS. When I picked it up, we went to fire it up and load it into the truck and it took quite a bit of spinning to get it started, but I thought well it's new and probably has old gas in it. First thing I did when I got home was removed the tank and dumped the gas out, and got new. No difference. Figured I would break it in some and it would get better then.

So let's fast foward to now. I have got 5.4hrs on her now and it's no better at all.
This morning I noted how long it took to get it to fire so I could explain it.

1) Bump starter and let the pump run till it stops.
2) Spin it over for five seconds... it doesn't even hit a lick.
3) Spin it over for four or five more.. it makes a little hiccup out the muffler.. kinda like a backfire but not really.
4) Spin it over again for four or five seconds and towards the middle a hiccup, then it barely starts at the end and settles to a nice idle.

Seem way to much to me as I have had carbed bikes that started way better than this the first time of the day, and a buddy had an 09 450 that starts right up.

Now, past this point, it starts great all day, no issues and fires very quickly, and seems to run great.

What do you guys think? The battery is fully charged and spins it over good.. doesn't seem like a decompressor problem... valves tight maybe from the factory since it did it with 0 hrs on it at Mark's?? Doesn't seem to fit the clogged fuel filter stuff I have seen on here I don't think.

I am not a bike newbie by any means, but I am a Berg newbie. Help!!

Have you tried using the cold start knob??

And as long as it's running great the rest of the day I wouldn't worry about it....right now. Get 20 hours on it and see how it runs. You've done your first oil change right?

Haven't tried the cold start knob, but the first oil change has been done... I'll try that... Thanks!

I believe I have gotten to the bottom of it. My idle setting was waaaay off. Funny how once it got started it did fine the rest of the day.

There are 55 "clicks" of idle adjustment. Mine was almost all the way out or counterclockwise. I set it to 22 clicks out, did the bump to run the pump, then hit the button and it fired right up, but seemed to be idling very low to the point that it quit. Few more clicks out and it fired up and settled out.

I tried it again this morning and it fired right up. I guess the idle setting is important for the first start of the day....

BTW, battery voltage was fine even when cranking it over..
