Question what boots to buy?

Turning to you clever husabergians!

Quick background, Ive used a pair of boots I liked very much but theyre falling apart. So I had a weak moment of vanity wanting to look proper as the current boots dont look good anymore and bought a set of alpinestars tech 3 (ok dont bash me please, *scraping foot looking down* )
Admit I didnt do a too good research. Tried them once on a ride and in short I wont even put them on again as it felt like I had no feet, absolutely NO feedback/feel, and my riding style is dependant on rear braking -> disaster.

So what boots to buy that provides good feedback/feel??
Its for trails riding.

Thanks for taking your time reading /Tom

Local people like Gaerne boots a lot. They're said to fit to wide feet.

I have a rather narrow bridge of the foot. I have Fox Forma Pro boots and they are amazing. Very comfortable with good feel.

I have a pair of Gaerne Balance Oiled boots that have felt comfortable from day one. I use them for trials, trails and if I have a lot of walking to do. Very comfortable.

My hard core single track boots are Alpinestars Tech 10's. A bit stiff, but some of the best protection money can buy.
Thanks from TomTom and tourist

I do'nt wear mx boots I ride with sidi adventure boots for almost 4 years now and had some crashes with them and didn't hurt my foot so I think they are good enough because I did break other bones (hand/shoulder/kneecap )
The feel is good and I think they are very comfy to wear all day but they do squeeeeeeek
Thanks from tourist

(fwiw mx-looking boots are very different between types - some are like ski boots, all hard plastic - and others are elegantly hinged and comfortable, these relay more feel - and these be walked in just fine (but a special lumbering gait is needed ) )

gaerne balance oiled are very cool! trials-based adventure/trails boots as I understand them! ! i really want to try a pair some day

then Gaerne make versions of their mx-style boots with an "enduro" sole which is a Vibram hiking sole boot i.e. with a grip pattern - seems very interesting for trail riding, to be able to push and walk etc, but a local guy did mention that they do tend to "catch" on obstacles at speed :/ not a catastrophic disadvantage but a factor (and something to get used to keeping in mind!) ... Fwiw i'll be trying to get my "hands" on a pair of hiking-soled boots for next time

Tourist youre spot on for what Im looking for, grip I like none of though, flush sole preffered.
There are as many styles as there are riders and I use the rear brake for presicion and steering really, without it Im lost, not just a little lost but completely lost.
I also like to feel where on the foot the pegs are.

Asked around locally too and those ends too point at Gaerli.

Alpine stars tech 8 ... Never liked the fit and the buckles sucked.
661 flight boots. Great boots and buckles
Sidi crossfires. Great buckles, super comfortable and a hinged ankle... They win!
Hinged ankle really makes a difference in feel and comfort.
Thanks from PEI Mudder
