Everybody talks about Sidi Crossfires but as they are a bit pricey for me I have gone with TCX Pro and now with Forma Dominator, both quite good but I like Formas a bit more.

I Ride:
Sidi Crossfires.
The first pair (Tae Flex back then) lasted 10 years ( still used as spares) which equated to $50 a year.

My cross fires are 5years used and abused and look like they will go another 5. I use them for enduros, backroading, trails and really wet cold road rides (i cant believe how water proof they are).

Most comfy boot for me and Quality lasts a lot longer than the pain of purchase!
Thanks from tourist

I Ride: FE390, Moto Guzzi Stelvio,
I've had Sidi Crossfires for 5yrs best boots by far I'm also fortunate enough to have a pair of Alpinstar Toucan's great boots (gore-tex lined) but several issues with the hinge have put me back in Crossfires Sidis worth every penny and there Adventure boot is good too.

I've also been having some feedback from FORMA boots, and people are telling me they are a very nice surprise, with a nice price

TOMTOM, don't expect your boots to last 10 years they are not suppose to

Sidi crossfire srs. Comfortable. Great control feedback. User re soleable. Almost all hard parts are replaceable. Hinged ankle means no missed shifts, and easier to walk in than non hinged. I have some tech 8's, and they never broke in until the plastic in the ankle area cracked, (compromising protection). Sidi crossfire srs hands down are top level gear. A bonus for me is a leather upper. I know the claims of synthetic, but I prefer the animal hide, just as I do with my "leathers". Good luck, and happy ripping!

You are right, I need to change approach here. Its like slippers, they get better with wear until they just disintegrate.

Two clear suspects to try I hear, crossfires and gaerne.
Ill do the homework of actually trying and get back, thanks all for your input, much appreciated!

One thing to add. Boots with a pivoting ankle tend to be squeaky. My sidi crossfire were quite loud, (and annoying). Applying some vegetable oil to the pivot worked wonders. I used a syringe of the type used to give baby's medicine. Problem sloved.
