I also use a smoked visor, looks cooler and is better IMO!

I guess thats true, I have an old Airoh MX helmet which I use when driving my ATV but it's fuck ugly and damaged so I'll stick with my visored helmet this summer out atleast!

When racing, everything you can do to make you feel that you are going slower than you really are, is worth doing. Everything that steals your attention from the activities that make you go faster, is worth removing.

Any input to my senses requires some capacity from the brain to process. If that input also is warning you of a possible risk (noice in helmet=going fast=better stay alert) it also makes you take precautions that stops you from going any faster. Alltogether, wearing earplugs during RR, definitely helps me to lower laptimes.

I use both prefer full face helmet (xr 1000 shoei) when it is cold or riding fast tracks (+150 km/h).
I also have mx helmet shoei vfx-w and I like it more for when it's hot and it is also possible to ride 170+ with the mx helmet but the full face is better for this way less turbulence and you do'nt use neck muscles to much...

I know what you mean about the intake sound, not noise, more like music. With the closed helmet, I like the option of wearing sunglasses during the day, and being able to pocket them as night falls, for street riding. Polarized lenses cut sun glare on the asphalt quite well, but make lcd displays partially disapear. Off road, I prefer the open helmet with clear goggles, as the woods can get dark even in daylight. I can normally mitigate the sun with the peak. As far as wind noise. The right grip makes that disapear pretty quickly. Or is that just a perception?
