2009 Aftermarket Fuel tank capacity

Greetings all,

I have been in contact with a company that is considering the production of a larger aftermarket fuel tank for the 2009 model bike. This company, not Clarke, is mainly interested in what size fuel tank, but, I thought I would try and gather the info as to about how many would be interested in buying one in the first place.

I will be making another poll for the different sizes. (NOTE: I merged the two threads that I posted on the 2009 aftermarket fuel tanks to try and keep all the info in one spot. DEC)

Thanks,

Dale

RE: 2009 Aftermarket Fuel tank

A new tank is already underway here in Australia with Aqualine that make the Safari tanks. They will be targeting an extra 10L over the existing tank, which combined with the rear subframe mod (4.5L) it will give around 23-25L possible all up.

I would not have thought there would be the market for 2 tanks givent the development costs since only 3,500 bikes world wide and the total take up of tanks is likely to be less than 300

Hi
Gazza is aqualine going to make larger tank and then in addition making the subframe into a tank. having that much fuel would be overkill for where I ride
I was told that a german company are developing a kit that turns the subframe
anybody who this company is?
the fuel milage of this new bikes is not the greatest so it is going to be problem for me
when riding in the mountains opens up

At the moment the rear sub frame conversion will be a kit for an extra 4L

The Aqualine tank will be additional capacity that mounts and connects to the original main tank, ie shroud wings, seperate sides (bit like the seperate KTM rallye front main tanks or the Mecasystem ones, but not as low, see Aqualine Honda CRF Safari tank for the style), so it will be modular and can be adapted to whatever fuel range you need up to a combined total of 25L

so options would be

Main tank 8.5 L
Subframe mod 4 L
Left Shroud 5-8 L
Right Shroud 5-8 L

just mix and match what you want and use original tank & fuel pump set up etc.

Personally I would like to have a 3 gallon and a 4.5 gallon tank, one for the local races and rides and another for some extended voyages in the back country or long dual sport rides.

I rode the Desert MC national Hare and Hound a couple of weeks back, and while I did make it on the first 42 mile loop, I did'nt have too much fuel left over, and, I was not using more than 75% throttle as I am still putting on the break in hours.

I would be happy with a 3G tank. I wouldnt hold my breath waiting for one regardless of size.

Sounds like Gaza has it happening down under, hopefully everything will work out for him as I know he really needs it for his rally raiding.
