K&N in desert

Hello All. Some racers who ran K&Ns in Baja wound up covering them in a oiled foam jacket. The drill was to change the cover as soon as dirty. You can skip this process as the OE Husaberg filters work well. Just bring a couple of serviced ones in your travel kit. Pity we have to pull the tank to swap air filters. Makes pit stops way harder than need be. By the way, the huge frame / airbox acts like a reservoir, holding ample clean air. Unless you get to hold it wfo for a while, don`t worry about flow. Speaking of holding your 60+ hp Husabergs wide open, what sort of top speeds have you super-moto guys been seeing? Tally Ho!

Yes the foam does deteriorate if oiled and let stand for long periods, pending on what oil/cleaner you use. If the filter is oiled and cleaned with No Toil water based it will last longer. I hate the No Toil system personally but it is less abrasive on the filters.

I have three filters, one no oil and it is back up, two I swap back and fourth until completely worn out from cleaning. Also making sure all the solvent is dry and clear prior oiling help make them last. K&N and DNA and all the others are great for on road use but noting beats a foam oiled for sand and off road, thus the reason they are still on the market.
