Re: A velocity stack, what can it do for you?

are you saying that your velocity stack can't be used in the standard chassis, dale? it looks like it would just about fit but be near the back wall of any airbox built.

if an air filter was fitted directly onto it, where abouts along the VS would the air filter grip? so is the VS for an airbox, an air filter either or both?

i'm interested in making this my next project dale and would appreciate any help and advice yoiu can give me?

thanks

Taffy

Hi Taffy,
The stock air boot will fit around the inlet bell just as on an OEM Husaberg Keihin. Unfortunately the velocity stack is placed very close to the near 90 degree inlet boot wall hindering performance.

The pictured FCR 41 carburetor is from one of my DT 444 race engines. Said engine is equipped with X1 camshaft, 37mm inlet valves, 32mm exhaust valves and an open exhaust.

A 152mm x 102mm K&N air filter is set in place over the stack. Stack opening is near mid filter with plenty of room to draw from the forward sides.

2000 DT 444 using FCR 41 and Velocity Stack

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dale

Re: A velocity stack, what can it do for you?

cheers dale

i have a BV head ready to fit if i want. but i have stolen the 30mm exhausts from it already so it may be straight up to 31-32 exhausts.

understood the VS report.

ever tried an airbox w/ filter over the big K & N filter?

regards

Taffy

Yes,
Unfortunately most singles require the airbox be fitted where the shock resides.

I constructed a very attractive CAD air box for a CRF only to lose power most everywhere.

Cheers,
Dale
