Absolutely taken the right way!!! Asking potshot questions to get a feel for what's what - and this has been a very useful thread already.
Thanks from Dr_C

It's not taken the wrong way as I never expected anyone to do the job for me.
But as you say there are tons of questions and that's why a forum is good. So people can share their thoughts and information. I'm not expecting any answers or support from anyone but not much is needed, when you have nothing it's difficult to know what to start googling. This thread already have some good answers that will help me on the way, and that is much appreciated!
Thanks from Dr_C

Can anyone give an example of an accelerometer that can be used on a bike? Tried googling but mostly found suspension tuning links. Thanks.

Have a look in the vast forum for MS Extra, the EFI SW for Megasquirt! I believe that "all" answers are in there, just a matter of finding it!

Megasquirt Support Forum (MSEXTRA) ? Index page

Ill stick my neck out and say it isnt too difficult. It takes engagement for one and time for two, but if you are obsessed that wont be a problem would it?
Its a lot to learn and none of them are difficult, time and swearing thats all it takes. Ill try and help!

before i got a 5 wire o2 sensor and data logger i used a beach a gps and tall gearing, faster top speed = more power.

at the time i was given the following advice from a very experienced fellow who made carb needles by hand for many of us; rely on WOT top speed as an indicator of performance, careful with the gearing, peak torque is found lower in the rpm than peak power and requires slightly richer mix.

it helped at the time and was a lot of fun, 180-185 on wet sand with 30klicks lost to wheelspin makes a nice rooster tail
Thanks from TomTom and tourist
