fuel in crank case

02 fe650, just brought it and it started really good with a few kicks. Problem is after letting it sit for a week I went to start it and got nothing before I noticed fuel leaking from all of the exhaust connections at a closer look the crank case is full of fuel.
The bike was not running rich before this. It was leaking fuel from what looked like a vacuum nipple facing the ground on the left hand side at the bottom of the carby, there was another nipple above it with a hose of it that went nowhere and the hose was the perfect length to wrap around and go onto the bottom nipple, I connected it and the leak stopped, did I do the wrong thing and why is the crank case filling up with fuel?
Thanks for any replies
Jason.

It is fairly apparent that you have a leaking float valve. It sounds as though you routed the float drain tube up too high or connected the tube to the wrong place thereby allowing the float to somehow overflow into the intake manifold.

if not the above your fuel valve has simply become old and weak. I hold in stock.

Re: fuel in crank case

Thanks guys for your response, can you buy a float on is own or do you have to buy a carby kit? If I disconnect the hose from the bottom nipple it shouldn't leak once I replace the float, ok, but where dose the top hose go to?
Do I just dump the oil, replace the filter left the bike run for a bit then change oil and filter again.
Thanks for your help.

Re: fuel in crank case

we didn't say float mate!

read my lips!

no breather hose from outlet goes to another outlet. it goes out and down to the outside world. please look at any bike parked up for reference and I mean ANY bike! (OK, bar Fi!)

regards
