Aqualine front tank with subframe tank?

I just received my new Aqualine Safari tank (thanks Rick!) and am in the process of fitting it to my '10 FE450.
Things are going o.k. so far, but I will need to "T" into the 70 Degree subframe tank somehow. I was wondering if anyone else had done this yet. It looks like it will be a tight fit, and I'm not really looking forward to cutting any fuel lines, but I might have to...
Thanks for any advice,
Blumpkin

You should pm Gazza, he's set up lots of the new Berg's for the Australia Safari Rally and I know that this year they used the Safari tanks with the 70degree racing subframe tank.

Hi we use the 70 degree fuel pump housing and tap in another spiggot to it and run the Safari fuel line to that spiggot, works great no issues what so ever, infact we even did that on Annie Seel's bike that did not use a 70 degree subtank, just the Safari front & rear tanks. The 70 degree fuel pump housing is very good

Looking at doing the same thing with a front Safari and also the 70 Degree subframe tank.

When you say spigot I am presuming it means a T piece fitted between the outlet of the 70 Degree tank and the quick connect fitting before the fuel pump?

Does any one have any pics of their Safari tank setup and mountings?

Does anyone have a PDF of the original Aqualine installation instructions? I picked one up used, and I'm not 100% confident that I understand the installation procedure. If anyone has instructions, or even a few quick tips or photos for the install, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Re: Aqualine installation instructions

Garrison,

You can find the installation instructions here:

http://safaritanksusa.com/index.php?mai ... &chapter=1

Dealer did my install so don't have any tips. The only negative with this tank is the pain in removing it any time the stock tank has to come off for any servicing that requires removal of the stock tank. Gets expensive since I get dinged an extra hour of service time to remove the Safari.

Cheer,

Blaine

Blaine - thanks very much! It's very unlikely that I would have installed this tank correctly without these instructions! Thanks a lot.

Does everyone fit the fuel line of the Safari tanks like that down beside the front sprocket and lower frame tube?

Anyone had problems with the Safari fuel lines?

Re: Aqualine front tank with subframe tank?

I installed the Aqualine Safari front tank and cannot seem to get the O-ring to properly seal where the two tanks come together. Any suggestions or tricks that someone could share? The O-ring seems to be the right diameter but it is a thin O-ring. I was thinking about trying to locate a thicker O-ring to try.
