09 FE450 injector, where to buy?

Want to chuck a new injector in my bike (hard starting, flooding etc), not that interested in getting it cleaned.
Does anyone know where i can buy one online? i'm going to get raped by my local Australian dealer if i go there, compared to US prices of parts.

anyone help me out?

Hey bowser, I almost got divorced spending so much time on the computer trying to find an after market injector. Would you care to pass on the place you got your injector done ? Mine definitely needs cleaning.

I just took mine to a car repair joint around the corner, they couldn't flow test it or anything but put it in a bath of cleaner for around 15mins from what he said and connected up wires to activate the injector. Most places with a automotive injector cleaner should be able to help you.

Certainly made a difference to starting

Re: 09 FE450 injector, where to buy?

Short bakground:
Have had problems with the 570 for some time now. It starts fine and idles fine but with the smallest move of the throttle it dies. New responsibilities at work + 9 months year old boy = no time to fix (or ride for that matter)

The story:
Finally got myself together yesterday and started pulling it apart. Had a friends 390 to get replacement parts from trying to zoom in on what the problems was. After lots of testing I found that with his injector it ran fine.
Searched the web for price of a new injector and found it to be 1400SEK (>200USD) and in the process I found this thread. So today I bought a ultrasonic washer for 700SEK. Cleaned the injector with hot water and some other suitable cleaning agents I had at home. Reassembled the bike with great hopes and imagine my joy when it ran fine. Going for some ice racing this weekend, hope it really is fixed...

Conclusion:
Buying a ultrasonic washer was a good investment

Re: 09 FE450 injector, where to buy?

i am from australia too and also looked into getting a new one also , i also had no luck and oem is priced out of proportion to its size
basically after it was running and shut down you could take the filter off and petrol vapour would rise from the intake duct and splutter like a bitch
if you got a torch you could see lots of petrol on the valves
A mate talked into getting it cleaned , and i did that from valley force in lillydale , bugger me it worked , i would also like to keep a spare in a ziplock bag

hmmmm....

The ice racing went well (apart from the fact that my new studded tires were no good ). Went for a ride with a couple of friends last sunday (some 85km). Mainly high speed icy gravel roads. After some 50km the bike started to backfire. The problem became worse and after a while it run really bad. At the end I had to go on-off on the throttle all the time just to keep it running (getting back to the bus).
Over a cup of coffee I started to think about how the problem started last time and it was the same. So when I came back home I removed the injector once more, cleaned it once more and started the bike back up. Again it runs like a dream. I'll try to get out some time this week end to see if the problem has gone away for good.
If this doesn't work what kind of advice can I get from you guys? A proper injector service with flow measurements etc or just buy a new one?

Re: 09 FE450 injector, where to buy?

here in Soham I just had a local bike builder come round today. everything he refurbs is to concours condition. he's on an aermacchi metisse (1967) right now and it'll be a minter when it's done.

anyway, he's been doing this cryogenic stuff and offered his services to me today. aged 60, I know it'll be done right if anyone needs the service get in touch with me and we'll give him a try.....

regards

Might I suggest an in-line fuel filter to keep the crud from getting to the injector in the first place?
