things are sure different, aren't they taf? it's pretty much a whole new crew. last we were there was 10 years ago? place is a LOT busier now and overrun with 4 wheel contraptions and people. prices are pretty dear, too.
if i was to show, it would prob be just to visit. gettin' too old to go bouncing off slickrock. speaking of slickrock camground, i don't think theyve upgraded anything since we were there last.

some of us were pissed off at the state of the place last time and canyon looks clean! I'm not getting the answers I asked for? I should really call them and ask 'em straight: 'FFS Woman!!!!! answer the bloody question willya!". I guess we wouldn't be staying there long though if i did!

it can get very hot there.
the best week is the second week in September - maybe the third but we didn't use it before because those with children had to get them, back to school and it was a busy/expensive time of year.
we used to have three levels of skill among 27 of us but we either have 7 or 14 and button it up I reckon!

we need to contact I think it was 'red river rock campsite' ....maybe I should just read FR1 or FR2 and not be lazy!

I shall have to ask if I can borrow a bike! the good news is that I can come bearing gifts or labours to pay!

we will end up a small group of dedicated 'Husabittens' one day, guess we need to get it together soon!

cheers

A chance to meet the infamous Taffy, lol
I'd let you use my bike, a 2011 fe570, for knowledge, since life is constant schooling. I live in Durango, about 3 hrs away. The 1st or 2nd weekend in Oct or the last weekend would be good, my son would probably want to go. He has a seasonal job that should be done by then. A place that takes 5th wheel rv's since I would bring mine.
Next spring would be good too.

Moab is on my bucket list and I would be very interested in attending an organized ride there. My backup bike is my son's CRF150RB, so Taffy if you're over 5'-4" this might not be a good fit.

it was a little like pushing S*&^ up hill at the time. for these things to happen it cannot, it just cannot be left to one person because if for nothing else, there has to be an undercurrant of collective enthusiasm that pushes it along.

sure, not everyone can organise it but saying 'yup' and walking off isn't going to make it happen. having been over twice, i really do have to plan a long way ahead and pay for things in dribs and drabs.

but the campsite people were just numpties, thick as i dunno what to talk too.

regards

Got it. Let me see what I can find in terms of lodging/camping options.

There are plenty of hotel rooms to choose from in Moab late Sept to mid Oct.

Tent campsites have some availability. Sites E1 and E2 (Sand Flats Recreation Area | Grand County, UT - Official Website) are 16 person group sites with toilets, picnic tables, and fire pit but no running water. I'm okay with tent camping and hauling in plenty of water. Let me know if you are okay with tenting.

Campsites with cabin rentals are very scarce right now. I've not been able to find anything available on line and will make a few calls when they open up today. I'm guessing a group of 4-6 max at this point as anything larger is likely out of the question.

Since this is only 2-3 months away, anyone who is interested should have a good handle on their fall schedule. Please chime in if you can commit. I'll wait for some momentum to build. I'd be looking at 3-4 days there.

There are a couple of group lodging options (indoors, bed, water, etc). They likely won't last long. I'm happy to help coordinate this ride if there is interest. I'd be driving through Denver to/from and could pick a couple riders up at the airport if needed.

Of course, if anyone wants to ride some Minnesota north woods (Nemadji, Martineau) I'm game for that too. Black Hills in South Dakota is another great option, only a 10 hour drive for me.
