There are some hack spark arrestor vids on Youboob, but I'm sure you have already caught those shows. Otherwise you're stuck with trying to make something from FMF, Pro Circuit or the like work.

I just went riding with a buddy who has an 05 KTM 450 exc, our muffler looked identical except his writing said KTM and was on the other side and the end cap faced out right, mine left. The one from Pro Moto Billet looks like it will work.

I borrowed the exhaust off my brother's 2007 KTM EXC 450 and took the Pro Moto Billet Spark arrestor end cap out.

The aluminum silencer cans look exactly the same, although the internals and hangers are different. His unit has a factory spark arrestor so I couldn't compare the internals (Yes, the KTM now has 2 spark arrestors).

The Pro Moto end cap fit in the Husaberg exhaust perfectly. There are no clearance issues with the internals as the spark arrestor bit only protrudes a few inches into the silencer. In fact, unlike the stock end cap, the new spark arrestor would give the exhaust a straight shot right from the inlet straight out the end cap.

This one has the "snout" on the end, I think that is just for sound control. It points down, but straight behind the bike (not angled like the OEM outlet) so I'm not sure if it would hit the license plate. I think it would be OK though (no worse than the KTM).

Pro Moto's website lists 2 different parts numbers for the KTM 450 EXC/RFS 2004-2005 = PMB-01-3101, 2006-2007 EXC = PMB-01-3102. I'm unsure what the difference is, but I'm assuming this is the correct one for the 2007.

OK, so the options are:

-Full aftermarket unit
-Used OEM sparky off a USA bike
-Pro Moto end cap (looking for a used ebay one)
-Weld in a screen from another unit. No USFS stamp, but would satisfy me. No good if I ride in WA or at the Oregon dunes I guess.

I've only been check a few times for a spark arrestor, they have always put something in to check, never looked for a decal.

Funny, I guess as long as it hits something they figure it's a screen...

another case of lawyers having way too much say. i understand there has never been a documented case of a fire started by a spark from an ohv exhaust.

ned37, you are correct. I was on a committee in our town and someone said that OHV's cause fires. The fire chief at the time went back and did some research and could find no documented cases where OHV's cause a fire, that was in 2012.

So a friend bought a KTM 350 sxf that had a Lexx slip on exhaust and he wanted to change, so he let me see if it fit my Husaberg, it looked like to would bolt right up and it did. The muffler is the same length as my 2007 FE450 stock exhaust but the little adapter is 3" long or so. I guess they use the same muffler but adapter specific for your bike. Also the way it mounts is with a strap and only the back one is used. Decent alternative for some looking for an exhaust. I put my stocker back on, but I'll mess around with it later for pictures.

I've seen them start several fires, but not from a spark out the exhaust.

Hot header in dry grass = fire.

Though I've seen far more fires started by trucks in the same way. Almost lost several vehicles on a job site once that way, including a giant drill rig!

Always clear the grass from under your vehicle and don't crash in dry grass
