FE-570 exhaust can

Has anybody modified the can for better breathing and cooling?

If so please share your mod.

Thanks in advance for the info

wow does the big piece have a small hole in it?

will it effect an engine with all the emissions on it? My Fe is a 2011 out here in cali.

Will it make the engine run lean or does the fi compensate for less back pressure?

Also how loud is it?

Re: FE-570 exhaust can

From what I have read here and elsewhere, it would seem that the stock can on these bikes, while quiet, is restrictive and as a result exacerbates the heat under the tank issue. A lot of guys have put the FMF pipe on and report their bikes run cooler.

I don't want a loud exhaust and I also don't really want to buy a slip on either. The end piece and tiny very restrictive looking screen disc "thing" are definitely coming out. After doing that, I plan to ride it and see. I may take the sleeve off the stock can and have a looksie. Got a pop rivet gun and I am not afraid to use it

If I do go into the pipe, I will take pics and post them up with any mods / results that occur.

Really, as long as the stock can is, a 2" perforated straight through tube with glass pack and a FMF turbine vane spark arrestor on the end would be perfect. No need to overthink this thing...

The large part in the photo is filled with a tightly meshed screen and is listed as a catalyst so must offer some back pressure. I think the small disc is what you guys call a spark arrestor.
Along with these exhaust parts an air valve with a rubber pipe (secondary air system) on it and a large plastic baffle plate were also removed from the airbox. The parts were removed by the dealer before collection but I don't know wether or not they did anything with the ECU or engine maps.

Sound is quite deep but certainly not loud

Re: FE-570 exhaust can

"Sounds" good to me. Hoping to avoid the aftermarket can honestly. My experience with aftermarket pipes is they are lighter, sure, but as a result they damage more easily. The Yosh can on my last bike got smashed in good and it was not even the result of a crash. Just cut it a little tight around a tree, got a bit happy with the throttle, back end stepped out a bit and bam! You know, typical dirt bike riding! Heavier stock cans tend to shrug off such abuse better

Re: FE-570 exhaust can

I'm using the FMF Factory 4.1 Titanium Slip-on as a replacement for the stock exhaust on my 2011FE 570.
It's lighter and more compact than the stocker and the motor runs much smoother and cooler with it.
The exhaust note is perfect, not that loud at all. The stock pipe is way too restrictive. I also installed
the additional spark-arrestor we need in our area of high fire danger.

I also have the FMF 4.1 great pipe with good sound and you can run a 140 and it wont hit.

Re: FE-570 exhaust can

Sorry im getting off the topic a bit but I have the Akra can on my 570 and it still gets hot in tight stuff. Nothing the thermo didnt fix. Back presure is hardly different. Good pipes should be the same strength as stock can. Sounds like you should get a new end cap?
