RE: Ride Report on my 00 FE501E with a SEM Stator rewound by

Well get out and put some more time on that fancy new SEM! If it is as good as you say, I may just have my current SEM rewound for the heck of it.

Sparks that is the best news I have heard for SEM. I own a older berg with SEM. Can you fix or do something to give the SEM a stronger spark at kicking or e-start speed?
Thanks doing a fine job.

Hi Jontart,

The SEM stator in question is a pre 99 and will not work on 99 03 models it is a standard LC4 stator. Even if it did work there is the SEM OEM unreliabiltiy factor to take into account.

So Sparks how much for a SEM rewound by you for an 01, knowing that I don't have a used one to send you? If you still have some of those dead ones by you.

Hi LeFrog,

I have got a new LC4 stator that got damaged on the ignition side it came from my friend in France. I could rewind that it would work OK but when you come to use it you would have to change the plug connectors. Cost $235 plus $10 p+p.

Regards

Sparks.

By "OK" do you mean it will have the same specs as the one you rewound for Joe?

Hi wildbill,
Yes I can it is all relitive to how many turns of wire you put on, hence the early Berg stators will not run the late ones lack of voltage. But on the other hand you can have to much voltage. If you over voltage the capacitor which is 2 micro farad you get a big drop off at higher rpm max voltage accross the cap is round 250 V this seems to be the magic number. A lot of the Motoplat ignitions I rewind I can inhance the spark performance so I suppose I can do the same with the SEM. The early ones wont be a problem but the later ones yes the bobbins are very full to begin with. I have never been asked to enhance the SEM when they have been reound they seem to be ok Joe thinks his performs better than the original.

Regards
