Lightbulb Husaberg 650 2005-2008 programmable CDI unit.

Hello berg crew .
As a complete noob on the subject ,I searched in the forum(old threads) but there was no specific information about the subject or with a result at least.
So my question : Is there a programmable Cdi unit like (msd, vortex , ignitech etc) that is plug and play? like a ktm525 owner can slap a vortex with 10 maps on the button. ? And if not what is the best option regarding compatibility , ease of tune and potential?

No official one that i know of ...as long as the ecu can be FULLY program you can fit it, either from ktm or other brand ...it will need some wiring changing and set ignition... atm i have fuel injected mine and it's starting and reving using dta s60, but DTA have an ignition only ecu (cheaper and easier to make it work)

I would suggest going for a brand like DTA megasquirt motec or similar

The issue you can have is let's say you buy a vortex from the ktm 525 but the trigger ignition on the flywheel is not at the same degree or similar it could be a problem if the ecu can't support it

Again is it worth the hassle? maybe not but what would like to get or trying to achieve

Hi i wrote to ignitech in the past about programable unit for my 2007 FE 550

They could offer me fully programable unit which will be ready with map for my model. Unit can be charged from generator or separately with 12V

Its good to have USB/ COM cabel
DCCDIP1 unit in their catalog

Sadly i do nit have enough money that time so i defer it to another time

Unit 152 Eur
Reduction for unit 8 Eur
Thanks from husakeits

Paolo fuel injection??? Whooo 650? Tell us more

Regarding the use/aim for such a thing would be for an upgraded engine wanting more revs and the adjustability past the factory limit.

Or otherwise let's stay you are a cautious type of guy , maybe you can even ran a "safe" limiter before max revs to save yourself. Defenetly some utility for SM guys or even desert riders who live up in the rev range.

Folby that's very nice info from ignitech and at very good price I would say.
Defenetly would like to be charged by the bikes generetor like the OEM kokusan.
Can you change maps ? Or is it a fixed with one?
If it's a fixed one maybe you can tune it yourself or your mechanic/tuner if the software is provided.

I doubt you couldn't even set your fuel screw right?
or could you change the jetting?
let alone tune a carb?
let alone fit a 2" stack?
or a 4" stack?
or a cone air filter?
let alone bore a carb out to 44mm?

you do all thjis mate and then ask what Fi can do for your standard engine....

Hi Taffy , I can set my fuel screw, I can clean my carb , and I can change the jetting . In my previous carb bike i also had a cone filter. That's about it. As for stacks, and boring out carbs i have zero experience .
I not a mechanic but basic maintenance is not a problem. regarding FI i asked out of curiosity because i'never heard anything about a conversion from carb to fi. The other way around i have seen.

Sorry for late reply ...I have a page on the project in here if you goggle "paolo6 a new start" the info are there just haven't update it ...for me the efi conversion was for more to mess about it does need finishing but it's working

With efi you can adjust anything or do anything... you should get more hp and torque with it ( but the job needs to be done right)

But if you using the carb and wanting to change ignition timing you won't get much benefit, the most benefit is to set a rev limiter, but that's it

I also depending what ecu you going and the tuner you might lose one of the function of the frc41 (can't remember how is call atm) but it does have 2 wiring from it

Also in my experience most if not 95% of dyno turner won't have any idea on how to set an ignition map from scratch
Exemple.

I had an issue that the bike wasn't staring but only backfire. I was thinking the problem was because you can program on software to run from 2to12 cylinder ( doesn't support one) that it was looking for a second triggering wheel as the ecu can show you a graph on the pick up sensor when it gets a reading and there where 1 big spike and another smaller one

Anyway went to a dyno guy who works every day on ecu and he had no idea what i was talking about or what to do or what i was doing

In the end it was because the flywheel had to be set better at TDC and the ecu didn't like it even though you dont have to as you can set the reading anywhere

Again i am just saying ...make sure you speak to a dyno or someone who does remapping first if you ever think of doing a similar job that is confident to do it because most are clueless

Ok, so a knowledgeable tuner comes first. I will read the thread sometime later.
Btw I found an Fi kit from Fp engineering on ebay.(your post picked my interest) A bit too expensive for the average joe. But ecus and throttle bodies have a cost so..
