sink your money initially into making it start and run right. do all the things that make it good starting either with kick or leccy boot.
if yuou still have the stomach for the fight at the end then I'll come down to Southampton and give you big hug.
if you have an off day with your foot, what is the electric start meant to do when it is doing it 300 revs slower?
seriously, that is exactly what i would do, break it into two and attack all the stuff that makes them hard to start. you've seen my 10/11 point video.
