1996 Husaberg FE 600 - No light

Hey

I bought a Husaberg FE 600 1996 with only kickstart last weekend.
According to the seller, it was sitting inside for a couple of years.
The problem now is, the lights aren't working. No high beam, no low beam, no brake light...
Motor starts with 1-2 kicks and runs perfectly smooth.

I couldn't find a wiring harness for 1996, so I used the wiring harness for the FEe >2000 with a battery in it. Wiring seems to be OK as far for Blinkers, Front and rear light and the light switch. At least the colour is correct

The colours of the cables from the ignition don't match the wiring harness diagram.
As far as I know, light comes from the rectifier. Could it be, that the rectifier is broken and is there an easy way to check that?

Best regards

I think you've got to wire the bike like a 2000 then. the lights all work off the main positive. you have a live from the stator which goes through the regulator rectifier and then off it goes as a direct current wire and everything runs off it.

it is a 2000 wiring diagram you want. pick up the live, run them all of it. the horn wants to be almost straight off the battery or first in line direct out of the reg/rec.

I'm no electrician but the best advice I can give you is

EXPLODE THE VIEW
WRITE THE COLOURS IN BIG
I MEAN BIG

FOLLOW AROUND THE BIKE. BECOME FAMILIAR.

REMEMBER A LIGHT CAN WORK WITH ITS "SWITCH" INLINE ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE BULB AND NOT JUSTY ON ITS WAY TO THE BULB AS YOU IMAGINE.

all my kickstart bergs ran ac lighting (even my 04 preferred it). the earlys just had a regulator that bled to ground anything over about 17v ac. the swedes prolly repurposed the zener from the brits (aren't people always copying the brits, taf?)

Maybe you guys can take a look at it and tell me if there is a rectifier or not?
Btw. there is no battery...

the silver box is a regulator which governs how much AC comes in. it isn't a rectifier which converts AC off the crank into DC for your lights.

you seem to be ignoring what we say to you and want us to look at photos.

stop.

(repeats shit about wiring diagram for 2000)

then follow it through. when your bike is running you will have one permanent live and all others work off that one live. they pick up off it and go off and do each task.

once you have the reg/rec sorted it should mean that when you start the bike, you have a live direct feed coming out. stop the engine and simply fix up a battery in the workshop and take a live off it and to the 'red' wire that was the 'live' when running and connect it.. you connect from the negative up to the frame somewhere and make sure you can whip one wire off quickish incase you do something silly. you now have a circuit.

so you have a live into the bike without the engine running and can take your time going around hooking in brake lights, horns etc. that whole left switchgear will have a live in and all the stuff works off the one live except the horn which is a little different. the live goes to the horn, then up to the bars and the button is on the way to ground. if it gets to ground when you press the button you should have a horn-like noise!!!!

see! easy!!!

if in doubt just get a 2003 type reg rec and it'll have three yellows going in from the stator. one is actually an earth so they are your three 'IN' then on the way out is guess what??????????? a red and guess what that is? aha!!! yup. and then there's a black which is your earth bleed off if ever needed from the reg/rec. Back to the three wires up from the stator. they are either two yellows and a blue from the SEM stator or three yellows from the chinese replicas. doesn't matter, the blue on the SEM and one of the yellows on the Chinese needs to bleed/earth off so it has the reg/rec to fall on if needed. likewise the reg/rec has its own earth incase the same happens.

most things have an earth either to function a bulb or some such or in the case of the coil, the reg/rec or the stator; as a safety.

so, that red then trots off around the frame like the fucking milkman, delivering at each place and everyone gets served and happy.

happy! happy! happy!!

here's a pic of the regulator on my 02 650e. the older bikes located it under the seat.

Thanks for the help guys!
There was a cut off blue wire from the ignition to the regulator.
Rewired that and now everything works fine.
