I guess the outstanding question is;
Has the ELECTREX stator been upgraded from previous version to provide protection from damaging the CDI/Coil system?

ELECTREX claim that their stator has a controlled output which regulates voltage to prevent damage to the original SEM CDI/Coil system. On the other hand TAFFMIESTERS claim that the ELECTREX doesn’t have a regulated voltage and will damage the ignition module (&) they can modify your CDI/Coil system to withstand the ELECTREX stator.

Hi

There is another option, I just never have time to work on the problem.

For the SEM, I have a project for a small device that at least will take you home in case of a failure.

I must work on that some day

interesting ZAGA

another approach, transformer or inverter to power the ign, most material posted by OYK and smorgasbord

eg:

sem's charging coil replacement!

good luck getting an honest answer to your Q Bahnsy in fact I think you might be a Troll LOL

ZAGA when you pull apart a stator are you able to get any clues as to why to the sems fail ?

when the kokusan lighting power coils fail it is usually because of the 2 return wires being poorly routed and rubbing together with vibrations they only need to be routed separately and or covered in glue to prevent failure

Electrix stator

hi guys
Hope some body will be able to help me ?
I bought a fs 650 2003 as a none runner all parts were there part from stator and ht coil,so I bought a new stator from electrix world which is a replacement part for old stator ,and also bought a replacement coil pack which is a cdi unit seperate from coil put it all together just the 3 wires from stator to cdi and then to coil ? But I didn't get a spark I rang electrix world and they told me the stator wasn't compatible because of diod sorry about spelling so they sent me out another stator that is compatible with cdi but still nothing ,I've checked and checked earths move them etc I've not even connected up kill switch,I am now really confused and a bit peed off as I've spent nearly 400 and nothing can some body help me please ?
Many thank Mark

Hi

The transformer solution from OYK it's not very portable

But yes it should be something like that, a inverter solution in the TINWELP style, it would only weight a few grams and it could go in your back pack.

This would only be a solution for the guys that had a battery and only if just the charging coil would go wrong (99% of the times).

The problem is that all of this boards have too much power, so I would need to make some changes and test it, so I would not burn the CDI.

Also I say that this should be a get home solution because I don't know how reliable this inverters are.

I wish I could help. I think the truth of the matter here is very few have used or are using that stator. I would first check the easy stuff like plug, plug cap ,wiring, to ensure everything was up to snuff. I would hope that they would t send out something that doesn't work. I think this is hpi ignitions. Who manufactures it? Perhaps calling the manufacturer directly might get some results.

I would be interested at the outcome of this. Please keep us posted. It would be nice to think that there may be a viable reliable ignition system for our old bergs. I am fortunate to have a few good sems stators. I currently carry a rewound sparks stator in my pack.... Good insurance, kind of like scuba diving with double tanks! I'm sure as long as I have the stator in my pack, the one in the bike won't die. But the day I forget to carry a spare ......

Hi guys,

I'm interested on the matter as I will receive a 2003 650 engine. I will receive it opened, just about to make the service.

When talking about that with a collegue, he told me that the SW berg engines (pre-2004) most common issues where electrical related. So I'm guessing to order a CDI unit and a Stator from HPI and make the maintenance right the way, if this might help to avoid future problems.

Huscan, did you have any news related to the HPI stator? Are you happy with it?

Thanks to all for this tread!

I own quite a few vintage bikes and have not ridden my husaberg much lately, but it still runs and starts perfect. I have been looking at small fans to try to get the engine temperature down.
