So this appears to be a completely intermittent issue. Works one time, & not others...
One thing, the fuel pump is not running when I have no spark as well, so at least that gives me some kind of direction to look in.

Well that's ok, the kill wire goes all the way to the ecu. Hook your meter up again and check continuity to ground of the black yellow wire while you move the bars and wiring.

As an aside, does your efi light illuminate when you attempt to start it? And

That's a good question... I think the previous owner must have put the headlight bulb into the EFI light holder for some reason, because the EFI light would come on whenever I turned the high beam on. I have to check the wire colors to verify though.

I had a problem with mine that the orange wire that is in the loom near the fuel breather rubbed through, and it would cut power completely if i wriggled the bars left and right, maybe have a look at that?
