I Ride: 3x FE570
2x visionX Soltice as headlamp (pictures)

I'm putting together my 570 after a 90 h service and I took some pictures of my visionX Solstice installation that I use instead of the oem headlamp. I invested in two Solstice as I was tired of the shitty performance of the oem headlamp. It was expensive but worth it as I can finally drive when its dark.

This is the type of lamps: http://www.visionxusa.com/LED-Solsti...239/index.html
1 'euro' and 1 'spot', if I remember it right...
Short beam: only the wider is on.
Long beam: both lamps are on.

First I want to show you a picture of how it looks with them installed:

If it's good looking or not, I dont know. I like that my husa got a face of its own so I'm happy, but I did it to get more light. Which I did

How I did it:

First I played around with cardboard paper to find the shape I needed to suspend the two lights. When I had the shape I cut the same shape from a 3mm aluminium sheet. When it was bent as I wanted and with the two lights attached it looked like this:

I tierapped a piece of rubberhose to the left side to protect the clutch hose thats rubbing there:

I took 2 bolts that fit into the trippleclamp in the unused holes for the handlebar mount. I put them in from under so I could suspend my new frame there. I also found some rubber that will, hopefully, help with vibrations:

When the lightfixture is installed they look like this (this picture is from the other side (back side):

On the front I used the middle hole to secure the fixture. That made it really sturdy:

I then removed everything from the numberplate/head mask:

When the mask is on it looks like this:

I tie rap all cables up behind the light fixture and that makes it all look clean and tidy:

I have used it this winter and it works all good. I will post some pictures how I connected it all.

Re: 2x visionX Soltice as headlamp (pictures)

Some info how I connected it all.

The solstices came with connectors so I used them. I also use a diode to turn off the lamp with the longer beam when I use "short beam setting". When I switch on "long beam" both lamps are active.

Its really a simple thing to do. Just find a diode that is suitable, mine is from a trailer brake light, and then install it like this:

Bigger picture, the cables to the left is what I'm talking about. The thing to the right is a new controller I will install instead of the diode. (Skeene Design controller http://www.lights.skenedesign.com/IQ_175.shtml)

You can use the old connector from the oem lamp to connect it all to the bike, or figure something out if you dont want to destroy it. I put how I connected it all on the picture. Its quite simple. And if you manage to get the diode the wrong way its a quick fix to switch the connector around to the other lamp Negative goes to the brown cable and you can ignore the white (my bike is euro model).

Hope that helps if anyone wants to do the same. Its quite straight forward and the lights are so much better. I can later show some comparison pictures, I just need to get it running (and my friend needs to get his KTM with oem light running too). If not theres a lot of visionx comparisons on the net.
I will also come back with my experience of the IQ-170 controller from Skene Designs. When that is installed I can dim the short beam so it will not disturb other drivers when I'm on the road. Right now it's not too bad, but I dont think I'm legal. I also want a really soft setting when I have my front against my fellow riders. Right now I make them blind if I turn around against them
