Trail Tech Ignition Map Switch

I'm curious about the ignition map switch that Trail Tech sells.

Does anyone have experience with this part on a Husaberg?

I was looking for feedback from someone who had your product on a Husaberg 4-stroke.

But since you've answered, how does your product work? The description on your web site is rather brief. Thanks for responding!

Yes I do.

It just plugs right in (behind the headlight). Really, really wakes the bike up. I thought it would MAYBE be noticable, but she turned into a monster.I was amazed! I keep it on "wild" mode all the time as I get addicted to the increase in power.

I think you have to shut the bike off in order for the "switch" in power to take effect. Unlike the KTM 350 for example.

Re: Trail Tech Ignition Map Switch

Just put one on my '10 FE450. Obvioulsy not much different in funcitonality than the KTM one, but a heck of a lot easier to get to (looks good too).

Quesiton for the Trail Tech rep though: the instructions regarding the three different setting are a bit unclear. Is "Stock" between "Mild" and "Wild" or is "Mild" the lowest setting? And is "Stock" actually stock or some other setting?

Re: Trail Tech Ignition Map Switch

I bought one of the Trail Tech Map Switches and started to install it on my 2011 FE 570s, but the instructions don't seem to be accurate that came with it... According the instructions, the connection is under the seat, however I notice above where someone said it was behind the headlight... I'm thinking behind the headlight is accurate as I found an open connection that fits there, but not under the seat anywhere unless I disconnect my fuel pump connection... There are also two other wires to connect (power and a ground I believe) that are supposed to replace the kill switch... My question is if I don't want to replace the kill switch do I still need to connect these wires for the map switch to work and if so, where do I connect these? Since I have the street legal "s" version, my kill switch is different than other models and it doesn't make sense or help to mess with it as it is incorporated into the same controls as the starter... Anyone know the answer to this??? Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Trail Tech Ignition Map Switch

remapping is not the ignition, it is the fuel map.

Re: Trail Tech Ignition Map Switch

The Trail Tech switch (don't have one yet but am getting one) selects one of the 3 available ignition maps that are already built into your computer. The re-mapping your dealer does changes the fuel injection mapping. This is usually done on the FEs because they have a very lean fuel map. What they install is the Competition map that comes standard on the FX

No, won't screw up anything. The fuel map you dealer is putting in will get the motor running good and will still give it enough fuel if you put a less restrictive exhaust system. The 3 way Trail Tech switch is basically just advancing or retarding your timing on the ignition. Wild=advanced timing, lots more snap. Mild=retarded timing, more docile pull to the motor. Stock with or without the switch would be right down the middle.

The fuel your motor needs is determined by the fuel map and is not affected by the ignition map switch. Hope that helps.

Yes it does! I am so happy thank you. I am a carb guy you know old school. So one more question. How does the dealer reprogram the fuel map anyway? Is this something we can mess with with the user setting tool?>

The maps can only be loaded with the dealers tool. the user setting tool allows you to make further adjustments to the fuel map the dealer has installed.
