won't start easy

2001 fe470 always have trouble starting. am giving up racing this thing now. kick start does not start the bike, it did last week but it was a pain, i'm often too tired to get to the sart line. electric starter spins then stops. sounds like a dead battery. battery is new and fully charged. if i use the charger on "start, it will start the bike. it's like it needs a rush of electricity. so far this bike is no fun. please help before it's too late.

01 Husaberg's especially the 470's take a lot of dialing in to get the starting down pat. 1st I recommend reading through "the doc" and then base your questions off of your findings.

When it comes to kick starting each bike seems to have it's own personality.
My recommendations.
Cold
Pull the choke
Open the throttle
Pull in the manual decompression lever
Kick the bike through 5 times with the throttle open
Release the throttle
Release the choke
Bring the kickstart lever up to TDC, kick it through with a smooth full stroke, do not cheat it, make sure the kicker start lever starts all the way from the top all the way to the bottom.
Kick it up to 5 times, if it does not start repeat the procedure. Usually if it is set up right it will start in 2 or 3 kicks.

Hot
Same way as cold except omit the choke part. The 5 kicks with the manual decompression lever pulled and the throttle open is to clear the cylinder of any excess fuel vapor or partially burned fuel.

When I kick the bike I like to stand over it on a milk crate, curb etc..and kick with the left foot, so I am basically kicking from a standing position.

Setup on these is critical. Valves set to spec, idle set to spec, correct jetting and a good stator are all necessary.
The electric start potion has it's own individual challenges.
