Re: FE570 Map Switch

I picked up a mini-toggle switch from radio shack - SPDT middle off (on-off-on). I will put a 15K ohm on one end, a 6.8K on the other and tie them together. The harness connects to the middle terminal on the switch and the two resistors. That gives me all three settings with one very small switch.

Does anyone know where I can get a connector that will plug into the harness? I checked an auto parts store but they didn't have one. If I can't find one I will have to cut off the connector from the harness - but I would rather not.

Shite, I made a mistake. Sorry Sorry Sorry. Will try and update my diagram.
You are correct the 2 resistors should be 15K and 6.8K (The 4.7K is wrong)

If I was to do it again I would just use a 2 way Switch with aggressive and soft. I never use standard.

Great, ordered the resistors on the back of your drawing, now one of them is wrong and I need anther one!!!

Thats 20p you owe me Davo I'll settle for a weeks riding in Oz

70 Degree Racing sell a Map Switch with the plug on it ready to go. I would have purchased one but they were only available after I made mine

Re: FE570 Map Switch

I stuck to the modified indicator switch. The only thing that concerned me slighty was if you accidently flicked the switch while on the move (thinking it could damage the ECU maybe?) so I made a guard for it to prevent that happening.

Re: FE570 Map Switch

I found an alternate way to build the map switch. I didn't have a 15k ohm resistor in my stash of junk, but I did have a 6.8k and an 8.2k. This new way is a little easier to build too.

I haven't yet figured out how to insert an image, so I attached the schematic for two methods of building the switch.

Checkout the waterproof connector, I think it's the same. If not, you get both male and female plugs so you can replace the whole thing. I've ordered a 2pin plug so i'll let you know if it fits ok.

nick790 - that does look like the same connector. Now I need to find a USA distributor. If you find a part number when you get it, please post the info.

Thanks.
