FE 570 starting issue

My 570 has refused to turn over properly three times. The first time I coasted it for a bump start and after an hours ridding time it cranked over as it should. Next day it cranked over and started right it. Two other times it not had enough umph to turn the engine over.

It is only a few eeks old and has just three hours on it. Could it be a bad battery ?, starter solenoid ?, starting motor ? I did wire in turn signals but they have all power removed from their circuit when the relay times out and kills everything.

Thanks in advance for help, Neal

I think you need to start with getting the battery tested. I also use a battery tender when the bike is not in use.

Removed the batery and hooked it to a maintainer for several hours. The green light (charged) never did come on.

Curious though, the battery shows 13 volts on my fluke. Could it stll be bad and be full voltage ?

I haven't counted the clicks but it feels to me that it is set pretty high from the dealer.

Battery charge

Curious though, the battery shows 13 volts on my fluke. Could it stll be bad and be full voltage ?[/quote]

A battery at full charge and health should read between about 12.4-12.8Vdc.
Batteries need to be load tested to determine health/condition!!
A battery can read a surface volatge of 12.5 volts, but as soon as it ie required to do any work, they will quickly fall!!
It can be tested in the bike....just hook up mutimeter to battery(DC volts), and will read 12.5v approx....
Now, watch the meter whilst trying to crank the engine over.....a good battery will maintain 10.5volts plus....
A poor battery will quickly fall below 10v, if it has been charged and still falls below this, especially if 8v and less, throw it away, I mean disspose of it correctly, and get a new Batt.
If the relay chatters, or clicks but no starter engaging and turning, charge battery, and test again...
Hope this helps!!!

A few weeks old, and 3 hours? Return it to the dealer under warranty and let them figure it out.

The reason I asked about the idle is that after moding my exhaust muffler it resulted in a very high idle, at a guess over 2500rpm. It may not be connected with your problem but until I turned the idle down a bit the bike would sometimes not start. Sometimes it would start right up, other times it would start turning the engine over and then just hick up and stop turning as if the auto decompression had a problem or the battery was flat. I turned the idle down a bit, not to low or I would get the flame out/stalling thing and it's been fine since.
