I replaced the bearing and water pump seal a couple years on my FE450 as mine began leaking too. I'm not sure how you are cutting the seal when putting it back together but I recommend sticking with the OEM water pump seal. Unless there is something else going on.
It was discovered years ago the seal was installed backwards at the factory and called out in the repair manuals to again install the seal backwards. 09 570 wtaer pump seal.
I installed the water pump seal with the spring towards the coolant as discussed in the above post. So, along with doing the weep hole mod and installing the seal the correct way, it no longer leaks.
