fe570 themo fan stopped working

I HAVE A FE 570 2010 MODEL AND WENT OUT OVER THE WEEKEND AND MY BIKE STARTED OVERHEATING DUE TO MY THERMO FAN NOT COMING ON AT ALL. I HAVE HAD THE FAN FOR ABOUT 4500K'S OUT OF THE BIKES 5000. I CHECKED THE PLUG AND ALL MY FUSES EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL. THE FAN USUALLY COMES ON QUITE OFTEN. IS THERE A WAY TO CHECK TO SEE IF THE FAN IS STILL WORKING? AND IF ITS STILL WORKING WHY WOULD IT NOT BE COMING ON. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT

You can check the fan operation by putting a screwdriver or something similar between the contacts on the thermoswitch (electrical plug in the bottom of the right hand radiator).
If everything is working then when you touch both the connectors with the screwdriver then the fan will go.
If it doesn't go then you have issues.

Re: fe570 themo fan stopped working

You could unhook the fan and use some cables to connect it straight to the battery to see if it operates at all (just a quick connect to see if the fan moves). If it works you must check the cables, if not you need to replace it (after you made sure it's not the cables attached to the fan itself that are faulty..)

OK, just checking.

The fan system is pretty simple. 12v is supplied, which is cut off by the thermo switch.

You bypassed the switch, so we know that isn't the issue.

Jump 12v to the fan, as close as you can to the fan to make sure it runs. If it does, it the wiring or the connection to battery.

There is a fuse in a fuse holder in that powercable too, mine is near the frame above the rad. Check that.

Here is a wiring diagram I whipped up that will help you if you have a 12Volt Test Lamp. Put 1 end of the Test lamp to the bike frame (Earth) then start bike and chase the 12Volt through each connector. Power comes from Fuse number 4 under the seat.

Also, instead of shorting the Thermo Switch together as decribed above, try using a wire to the bike frame (Earth) and touch it on each of the Thermo Switch contacts. That will double check the Earth wire is OK to the Thermo Switch.

Check yas,

When I disconnect from wiring harness at the frame and go straight to battery and bridge the two wires on the thermo switch it works but not when it is plugged in the wiring harness
