My 2011 FE390 is the same. Clutch is "sticky" - but after oil warms up to operating temp it is just fine. I know several others who have the 70 degree Bergs and they are all the same.
When cold, I start in neutral, then give it some throttle BEFORE putting it in first (or it dies).
Also, neutral is a little hard to find - so I often kill the engine then hit neutral when needed. Overall, this well-known "glitch" is an easy work around. Once I got accustomed to the quirk, it never bothers me. Good luck with a GREAT bike! - Husageezer in Colorado.

+1 on HusaGeezer. If its just on startup and cold engine its normal.
Another way of separating the plates prior to start is to put a high gear in and with the clutch in roll the bike backwards and they let go (maybe ). Backwards is just because you get good force holding the bars pulling rather than pushing.
The routin I use is much like HG's as Im lazy. Start engine in neutral, with clutch in get the bike rolling a tad over walking pace, put 1:st in, with the clutch still in, blip the throttle and plates will separate.
Thanks from sirbsergiu
